Sometimes shows have an average/sub-par or just plain bad first season, but surprisingly pick up in their later seasons. Other shows have the opposite problem – they start off really good/great, but then struggle to match the first season quality in subsequent seasons.
So, are there any shows where the first season remains your favourite?
For the purposes of this thread, shows that only lasted a single season probably shouldn't count.
Some shows that I really liked the first season of - but then didn't like any of the later seasons as much - are...

Heroes
Reign
Revenge
There are probably quite a few I’ve forgotten, but these^ are the ones which immediately spring to mind. I’ll probably add more as I think of them.

Mad Men comes pretty close. You could tell that they didn;t know if they would survive after one season.

Oh, and how could I forget Sherlock? I thought its first season its best by far, though its second season comes close. (Its Irene Adler was awful, though.)

i watched all 12 episodes of Orville and am eagerly awaiting the second season. i really liked this season but i am unsure how the second season will go. they have john being moved to engineering and i don't know what that will do to the borderline sick yet funny banter on the bridge. who do they have replacing him at navigation? he gets along really well and compliments Gordon and his hugging the donkey maneuvers so how the heck is this going to go?

It's a toss-up between the first and second season for me. BOTH are WAY SUPERIOR to the third season. Although S3 had a few good (better than average episodes) such as "The Enterprise Incident", "Day of the Dove" and "All Our Yesterdays", MOST were SUBPAR.

i know they were pretty bland in terms of prime-time drama shows... but i really liked the first season of Melrose Place and the first two seasons of both Knotts Landing and Dallas.
knots landing was so nice -- such a ice neighborhood. with the exception of a couple of eccentric people, at the end of the day, everyone was there for eachother. then you had the bitch sister move in and whore the place up.
it made for interesting drama and it DID contribute to the show being on the air for 14 years but sometimes you just wanted no drama. no one being forced off cliffs, no one seducing you for a record deal, no bs.
