I am going to give it a chance. I have been looking forward to seeing this and while I don't think it is going to be as good as any of the 'Pokemon' movies 'cause 'Pokemon' will always be the best movie franchise based on a video game this could turn out to be really good and hopefully we get some more movies based on video games like Kirby, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Metroid, Perfect Dark, Legend of Zelda and Prototype. Ohh and another Mario movie. Just 'cause the first one failed doesn't mean they shouldn't try again. With the right writers a Mario movie could be good and I would love to see an animated movie of 'Captain Toad' with Toadette!!

The live action cgi hybrid part interests me. I can see why they're doing that I guess since there are humans in sonic' world.

There's a bad precedent set for this subgenre. Neal Moritz always struck me as the poor man's Harvey Weinstein. First time director, that instills confidence.

Presumably Sonic, tails & other characters will be mo-capped (at least they should be), so who could play Sonic? Alan Tudyk perhaps

The last time I recall anybody talking about Sonic the Hedgehog was back in 1999 when they had released one for the Sega Dreamcast.
So yeah, I'm not sure who is clamoring for a Sonic movie. They should have made it during the franchise's heyday in the first half of the 90's.

Who will play yhe hedgehog? Jack black? He probably fits Sonic more than most actors now. He's a cool rock musician with "attitude" who was also in multiple successful movies aimed at kids.

The last time I recall anybody talking about Sonic the Hedgehog was back in 1999 when they had released one for the Sega Dreamcast. So yeah, I'm not sure who is clamoring for a Sonic movie. They should have made it during the franchise's heyday in the first half of the 90's. A lot of people still love 'Sonic the Hedgehog.' There is currently an animated TV series called 'Sonic Boom' that is returning for its third season this year, two new Sonic games called 'Sonic Forces' and 'Sonic Mania' were released last year and a new game is in development now (which is looking very likely to be a sequel to Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing) and 'Sonic Colours' and 'Sonic Generations' are considered by many fans to be two of the greatest Sonic video games of all time. Even though the character might not be as popular as he was in the 90s there are new Sonic games coming out all the time and 'Sonic the Hedgehog' is one of the biggest selling video game franchises of all time with over 87.82 million sales worldwide which last time I checked is WAY higher than other popular franchises like 'Legend of Zelda', 'Donkey Kong', 'Resident Evil' (which has 6 Live Action movies), 'Tomb Raider' (3 Live Action movies counting the new one coming out this year), 'Halo', 'Kirby', 'Gran Turismo', 'Crash Bandicoot', 'Pac-Man', 'Street Fighter', 'Mortal Kombat', 'Mega Man', 'Rayman', 'Animal Crossing', 'Silent Hill', 'BioShock' etc and its sales for games in the past decade STILL outsold a lot of the most popular games of the past decade so to answer your question, the fans are clamoring for a 'Sonic' movie and 'Sonic' is more deserving of one than a lot of other video games that have had movie adaptions.
