What did you think of that^ movie, jeffersoncody? Was it any good? I'm a fan of Alicia Vikander and will watch pretty much anything she's in, so I'll probably watch it regardless, but hopefully the movie is decentularly. I rated it 9 out of 10. It's a gritty, affecting indie tearjerker with a powerful underlying message which reveals a hard, cruel truth about certain laws in America. It shines a light on injustice while telling a deeply human story. I was riveted to the screen from from first frame to last. Both my partner and were in tears at the end, yet the film is neither maudlin nor manipulative. But, while critically acclaimed, BLUE BAYOU is hardly mainstream fare. I fear you might not enjoy it much as I did, but I certainly hope you do. While Alicia Vikander is a terrific actress - and very beautiful, who is well cast (she clearly did this low budget film for scale, so the quality of the writing - along with the chance of the film winning awards - must have drawn her in), but she shouldn't be your sole reason for seeing this wonderful film. Although still lovely to look at, she's effectively de-glammed for this role. The hard-hitting story, the tight, well written and constructed script, the quality of the film's craftsmanship and the depths of emotion and despair it depicts in a fascinating, atmospheric working class milieu should be what attracts you. Blue Bayou stars Justin Chon - who also wrote and directed the film. I look forward to hearing what you thought of it.

FOUR HOURS AT THE CAPITOL (2021). The chilling FOUR HOURS AT THE CAPITOL is an outstanding documentary; a powerful, shocking and utterly damning depiction of a day of horror which will live on in infamy. The interview are as fascinating as they are revealing. The grim battle of the tunnel is given new perspective, and it offers fresh insights. The hillbilly terrorists and trumpers do not come off well. but the heroism of the Capitol Police comes to the fore. One really sees how close trump came to pulling off his coup. I urge everyone to see it. Your blood will boil, and you will feel your stomach churn at times, but make no mistake it clearly shows trump not only being responsible for the insurrection, but being a treasonous, amoral scum bag. FOUR HOURS AT THE CAPITOL does not make the GOP look good either, to put it mildly. But mostly it's a carefully detailed and focused account of one of America's darkest days. What trump and the GOP have done since then is the bigger worry, however. Must-see viewing. 10 out of 10.

Lil Abner (1959) Energetic, fun, live action cartoon based on Al Capp's famous comic strip. Some fine songs (some not so fine), and guaranteed to fry the brains of feminists and the PC generation. America! We need a Sadie Hawkins Day! Let the voting (and the pursuing) begin!

I've been watching Halloween themed movies since Oct. 1st but last night I made a break and watched "Prancer." I love this movie and I've always loved reindeer.

I have to say this movie grew on me a little bit;probably my third or fouth viewing of the whole thing. It shares a lot of elements with Mitchum and Russell's earlier hit HIS KIND OF WOMAN. I still find that movie far superior but this one is simply soaked with atmosphere and the cast is not bad. The villain is taken down way too easily though.

Saw this British television movie in the late 1980's and have been looking for a copy for years. Finally found one on Youtube. For once, the statement , "Mere words can't describe it," rings true. If you've read about it, but haven't seen it, this is your opportunity before it is taken down. There are nuclear holocaust allegories ( Godzilla), sanitized Hollywood versions ( The Day After) and blockbuster fx epics in which the Earth is devastated by invasions from outer space ( Independence Day). Threads stands alone.
