*London - South east, this is the third or so day of snowfall, it's been snowing constantly since about 11am here, its about -3 right how. Haven't left the house all week and looks the same for a few on my street.. feel like I'm slowly losing my sanity. Maybe brexit was a good idea? Should we give Wenger another chance?
Its set to last another day or so until things warm up and get back to normal but I'm pondering if nothing changes, what if England is stuck in a cold snap forever, are we a new scandinavian country? More importantly how will i get pizza delivered in this shite. ffs.

Beast from the East was nothing. Red warning here, due to get proper battered by Storm Emma instead.

Used to use Pizza GoGo, but went off them a few years ago, tried others but just can not find anyone who are any good in this country. Ranges between mediocre and bad. I'll tell you what is good though, the chicken tikka masala pizzas in the Asda frozen section (not the make your own counter). Some genius has combined curry and pizza, and it works! If you love curry and love pizza, then it will probably be the nicest thing you'll try this year.

How much snow is on the ground? Does a small amount of the roads shut down the cities? Just curious, not trying to start anything.

And yes, country grinds slowly to a halt almost. It's not like Canada where every single road big or small gets salt or grit put down, here you are lucky if they even salt the major roads, the minor roads, forget about it! I think Arshavin (ex Arsenal player) once said, "if we dealt with snow in Russia the same way as you do in England, life would be wiped out within 3 months" or something like that.

I tend to go with Papa johns these days, Dominos is nice but too pricey -- Pizza GoGo is a bit hit and miss I find, but they have good deals. It's funny cos supermarkets do decent oven pizza for like £2-5, we're all getting so ripped off for delivery but hey, it tastes good!

In England, practically any amount of snow will shut down cities and schools for days. To be fair, the North tends to get a few more CM than us down South so its understandable there, but its mostly melting away now (I can talk for the South east only) so a day or two of closed schools etc isnt too bad.

Thing is, its such an infrequent event, nothing is really geared up for it. I'm sure. I live in western New York State, where large amounts of snow are usual from November to April. I will take over 20 inches to really grind things to a halt. Three years ago, we got 77 inches in less than 24 hours. A friend of mind lives outside Baltimore and they panic with anything over three inches. We are more equipped to deal with it. Buffalo has more snow removal equipment, more salt and sand and we know how to drive in it. And there are places near Syracuse, NY that get much more than we do. 200 to 400 inches are the norm.

This thread is funny! (I live in Canada) I always imagine the laughter of Canadians, or people who live in Minnesota, when people on the east coast of the US freak out over a foot of snow. Frankly, I don't get it either. It's an inconvenient few hours and then everything is fine. It either gets plowed or it melts, and then you go about your day.

This thread is funny! (I live in Canada) When the day comes that we are under snow for 11 months of the year like you are where you live, I'm sure that will be the day we pull our fingers out and take action.

Football is gonna be hit badly this weekend. Not just games being postponed early. Last night, the Somerset County League postponed their entire league for Saturday.

Fck me snow's started again quite moderately now, getting another pasting here. Hearing the South west is getting freezing rain and ice everywhere. This is what post brexit Britain looks like.

It's not true about the South West, being exaggerated. Roads are driveable, and Bristol City-Sheffield whatever is on tomorrow.
