Columbus, OH! My local theater does $8.50 matinees on the weekend before 5pm (currently unemployed lol cause I resigned weeks ago), and $5 matinees M-Th before 5pm. Was there ever any point to Willis' character almost getting into it at the soccer game with that other parent? IIRC, that guy never came back in the movie, right? There are multiple scenes that do not further the narrative. to me the point was to show that he was a stable guy that doesnt jump into a conflict (or even avoids conflict) and also to give him a bit of guilt later like he "didnt protect his family" (the guy did say "you have your woman defending you"). So i think it was there purely to establish his character. but it did feel a bit forced yes. now if you excuse me, am gonna look into cost of living and flights to Columbus, OH and see if it makes sense to move there FOR HOW CHEAP THE TICKETS ARE. I paid 15 and felt "good" about it Columbus is pretty affordable at the moment for it being a relatively sizable city. I can get by for a few months with no job if I have to. Marcus Crosswoods is my theater. If you ever need a date I got you haha.

If this was a movie with an all-black cast set in the hood (featuring guns of course) it would have gotten glowing reviews. No, it wouldn't have. Plenty of urban-set action movies from the late 80's and 90's were trashed by critics. If the reason why it's getting poor reviews due it featuring a white guy getting revenge on a crooked system, then explain the popularity of Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry movies or the original Death Wish series? It's likely getting bad reviews because it's a poor film and it being about vigilantism is unfortunate timing during a time when gun control is a big issue.

It's likely getting bad reviews because it's a poor film and it being about vigilantism is unfortunate timing during a time when gun control is a big issue. I never said it wasn't a poor film (it looks rather average) I just think giving it a poor review based on the recent shootings is the wrong way to go. Keep in mind there were mass shootings in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s too. Not to mention tons of action movies with lots of gun violence were released at that time, but they never got panned for that reason alone. If anything the reviews are mainly for political purposes. The real score would be around 40-50% if not for this (which is probably what it actually deserves). Also, critics have given poor films good reviews for political purposes in the past. The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot is a prime example of this.
