For majority of superhero movies I could think of,majority of blockbusters even, international box office is usually bigger than domestic box office. Usually significantly bigger. So what is it about Black Panther and Wonder Woman that made their domestic numbers bigger than their international numbers?

So what is it about Black Panther and Wonder Woman that made their domestic numbers bigger than their international numbers? Way more people going to see the movie multiple times. Normally you'd have more people outside the U.S. so the box office will naturally be higher. But now you have people going to see the movie then word of mouthing it to other people and taking them, then they take other people. Maybe even in the same day. |

Also the 2nd biggest market China it hasn't opened yet. Most people are saying Black led movie will bomb. I think it won't. I think they opened it late in China because of this. Now the people of china have had 2 weeks of people gushing over it. It opened in Japan to day. And it seems that Russia has reported any returns from 2/22 till now.

Now the people of china have had 2 weeks of people gushing over it. It opened in Japan to day. And it seems that Russia has reported any returns from 2/22 till now. Oh, it will definitely bomb in China, they're pretty racist over there--One reason why TLJ bombed--One Chinese movie critic on TLJ: "An movie that is insult to the intelligence filled with not beautiful people" |

Less than $80m? I wouldn't call them racist, more like non-PC. I mean, if you're fat they'll call you fat. If you're ugly they'll call you ugly. But they won't necessarily hate you unreasonably just because of your skin color. And so movies like WW and BP won't be have the benefit of PC-induced artificial boosters there. They'll judge the movie for the movie itself and not for political views. |

As for Black Panther, it's actually doing very well overseas and will do on par with some other movies. It's just not performing in relation to it's domestic is all.

Simple: the movies overperformed domestically due to their cultural significance, but that same cultural significance isn’t as big a deal for other parts of the world. |

Who knows if the box office numbers are accurate.
You heard of Hollywood accounting? Where they manipulate the books-who is to say they do not do the same with box office reports.
Supposedly BP was behind ticket sales for the Last Jedi and yet that film had astonishingly negative fan reviews.
And yet BP is more successful?
With whom?
And now we are told these films are not doing so well in China--I thought China was the most important market to Hollywood.
Facts are a cookin' like polls and votes in an election.
