I don't make plans for seeing SW anymore. Especially the episodic films. I don't consider them canon. They're just Disney stories and characters using the OT universe as a backdrop.
With the exception of Leia the OT stars were horribly shoehorned in. It's meh stuff like most Disney channel programming. If I get bored out of my skull I might give it a look.

The picture is actually a joke on how horrible of a job they did writing the trilogy without planning ahead for a story arch. Disney likes to point to how George Lucas didn't have a clear plan for the OT...you know what though? He's the Star Wars genius. Despite what people think of him or some of the stuff he came up with, he made it happen. It all started with him. Can others replicate that lightning in a bottle though? hmmmmmm.... Beethoven played the piano as a deaf person by pounding out the sounds and feeling the vibrations below him. Does that mean all deaf people can do that? No. Beethoven was a genius. Abrams, Johnson, etc. ("and the rest") need to learn that stories need to be plotted out in advance. They rushed this trilogy out and it shows like a kid trying to write/turn in a paper 30 minutes before it's due.

Also don't be afraid to alter the plan when events occur, i.e. an Actor dies so she can't appear in the next film but the actor who could you kill their character off.
