This week it became the third album ever to be in Billboard's Top 200 for 500 straight weeks, joining the ranks of Dark Side of the Moon and Bob Marley's Legend. In one word, how would you describe Journey's Greatest Hits?

Wheel in the Sky was the only tune of theirs I ever cared for. Seen them open up for the Stones in 1981. Worst show ever. Rumor had it that Steve and the boys had booked a show a week after and didn't want to open for Mick and the Boys (back-to-back big shows don't usually work). You could feel the apathy oozing through the Stadium. George Thorogood opened for Journey and he blew Journey away. Sorry, they were one of those bands that were very good but could never take the last step to greatness. Like Foreigner, Loverboy, Triumph, et al.

I’ve always liked Journey, but prior to the Escape album they were a different band. They were fantastic when Gregg Rollie was a member. After Rollie left and just Steve Perry remained on vocals they became more pop oriented. Some great songs on the Greatest Hits album, but it ignores everything that didn’t include Perry.
So in a word, great-ish.
