TMNT (2012)

Watched this series with my young son. I loved the original Fred Wolf Cartoons as a kid. As a teen, I loved the dark TMNT series that came out in the early 2000s. 

The first few seasons of the 2012 series were the best. The minute they got back to NYC from the farm and then the Triceratons invade, it all went down the wrong turn for us. We both lost interest. So midway through the 3rd season, we stopped. 

Haven't watched it in a long time. I liked the Leo/Karai subplot and how Splinter is her father. The displaced loyalty she has to the Shredder.

I also like how the turtles have very distinct personalities. Other than the colored masks, they looked and felt very similar in the previous adaptations. In this one, Raph is HUGE, Donnie is lean and lanky/tall, Mikey is short and stocky, and Leo is the perfect balance of muscle and intelligence. I like how April is a teen/young adult but I think I would have made Casey a 20 year old ex-hockey player who got cut from the semi-pros and uses his skills to be a vigilante fighter. Maybe would have made April 16 in season one, so by the time she meets Casey, they aren't romantic at first, but by season 3, she is 18 and they start to have a romance.
