If not him, I hoped it'd be Plummer.

I've never been all that impressed with him but he was excellent in Three Billboards.

Rockwell was great. Some critics have complained that his redemption arc was too pat. What? Yeah, he was a jerk and a bully but Chief Willoughby saw some good in him. Then, he abruptly lost his job, got badly burned in a fire, treated kindly by one of his victims, could not get any other work and - just by chance - got (he thought) an opportunity to do some legitimate detective work. That doesn't sound "pat" at all. That sounds like an Oscar winning role.

I chose my words with care even though believing that anyone clicking on the thread would have already seen the movie, you scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe!

He was great in the film and deserved it. Wouldnt have been upset if Woody Harrelson won either, but its understandable Rockwell winning because he had more screentime. Both actors were really, really, really convincing in their roles.

Rockwell has been consistent for the past 20yrs, but Harrelson and Dafoe have been around a lot longer. Perhaps on of them deserved it more? Plummer won one a few years ago. I don't like these awards to be given to "lifetime" achievements. Thats the reason the Oscar that Leo won for The Revenant is quite hollow imo.

Woke up this morning and decided you had a point (if your unaccountable rudeness was overlooked). I have edited to add the spoiler alert.

Happy for Rockwell. Always liked him as an actor. Should have been nominated for Moon as well!
