I'm happy for GDT and glad to see something different win for a change. Anything to give speculative fiction one of those artificial boosters the kids keep jabbering about.

I've yet to see it/no hurry to see it but watched Hellboy again last night to celelbrate his win I wonder if they weren't gonna reboot it entirely whether they'd fast-track a direct sequel to Golden Army with Ron Perlman now that GDT is an Oscar winner.

Just checked and didn't realise theres a new Hellboy movie coming out next Jan and this guy plays Hellboy www.imdb.com/name/nm1092086/?ref_=tt_cl_t2Hopefully its a success for Neil Marshall anyway

Agreed about Marshall, he's severely underrated.

It's a forgettable movie at the end of the day like most best picture nominated movies are. just in the current decade... looking at the best picture nominee's I think 2017 is pretty much the weakest year with 2014 being the next weakest.
but just for me personally, looking at all of the best picture nominee's there is only about four movies of any real worth even though there is a bit more I mildly like.
NOTE: I have seen 43/71 (60.6%) of the best picture nominee's. but I doubt my general opinions above would change had I seen the rest.

Shape Of Water was beautifully conceived and executed. It is a film for movie buffs and opened minded viewers, so it can be difficult to recommend, however, the film does offer plenty of rewards. Pity it's a ripoff of someone else's work.
