Or Have trouble pronouncing? I have trouble pronouncing the word PNEUMONIA because of the silent P. Or sometimes in movies people have trouble saying the word LOVE. They can only stutter the L part over and over. What words Can't You pronounce?

For years, I couldn't get the middle syllable into "trinity." Always came out "trintee." Fortunately, not a word I use much, but I persevered, and if I ever have to say it, I'm now ready. Funny, I never had any trouble with "spondylolisthesis" or "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicavolcanoconiosis."
But can anyone pronounce Gstaad?

shannondegroot ---- got it ... "social security" needs some concentration to get it said without hesitation or schlurring. No idea why and fortunately it doesn't come up in polite conversation all that often

Have a relative who had a devil of a time saying Ses-qui-cen-ten-ial and she was on the town committee at the time and had to make dozens of phone calls asking for volunteers to help with the celebrations. It was NOT pretty !

Sesquipedalian is a great word that I wish could be used more often without seeming erudite and ostentatious! You can get away with it when you use it to describe someone who is. Funny how that works. You sound just like Sheldon Leonard. You'll recall that Leonard was the Exec Producer of The Dick Van Dyke Show, and sesquipedalian was the very word Van Dyke used to describe him offscreen.
