Going to see this one this weekend. The trailers look great. It looks like an intelligent horror film.

This was quite good. I dug how it relied on very little dialogue . The creatures were pretty cool looking too (certainly better than those creatures in those Cloverfield films)
John & Emily were both fantastic in the lead roles and the child actors did a good job too. Highly recommend seeing this one in theaters . solid 8/10

I can't WAIT to see this movie. Just need a buddy to see it with (hubs doesn't like horror). I'm glad they chose and actual deaf person to play the deaf person.

I am not a big fan of horror movies but i think i will watch this one as it does seem like an interesting premise for a horror movie.

Reminds me of THE EARTH DIES SCREAMING which could be an alternate title for this (since the Earth inhabitants do die by screaming--making sound).
The 1964 film has some similar elements too.
-Alien invasion -survivors have to avoid drawing the alien's attention --baby birth complicates matters -technological solution used to solve dilemma

it was pretty good. really unique cinema experience to see a movie thats practically silent, in this way. awesome acting and it kept getting better as the movie progressed. I had a few minor gripes with it re- realistic expectations of how the creatures survive vs people keep dying out, cant believe that the army wouldn't have been able to to take care of them/figure out their weakness but but other than that I really liked it.

That was my date's biggest issue with the premise. Aside from that, I feel like it's one of the tightest films I've seen in awhile. I also thought the baby was quieter than a newborn would have been. The film had me thinking about how hard living like that would be though. What would happen to my two-year-old granddaughter? I'd imagine most families would be wiped out pretty quick.

Haha I wondered about the baby. I was thinking-wait a minute-if a baby is born, wouldn't that blow the whole silence thing?

A Quiet PlaceSynopsis: A family lives an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound. Genre: Horror/Thriller (R-rated) Director: John Krasinski Starring: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Noah Jupe So this is John Krasinski's third feature film after The Hollars & Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, which both received mixed reviews. I did hear about A Quiet Place before today, but it wasn't really on my radar. That changed today, when the reviews started to come in. The reviews are good, like extremely good. Here's an overview of the reviews so far: "A Quiet Place is bold and inventive with top-notch performances, breathtaking storytelling and intensity; it is the must-see film of the fest and even the year." - 9.5/10, We Live Entertainment "One of the most inventive, emotional, and terrifying films I've seen." - 5/5, Dread Central "John Krasinki’s Monster Movie is a Riveting, Near-Silent Thriller." - B+, Indiewire "A terrifying thriller with a surprisingly warm heart. If only it were this fun being terrified in real life." - Rave review, Hollywood Reporter "A Quiet Place is certainly Krasinski’s best film as a director, and a sure-fire crowd pleaser that is one of the most fun movies I’ve seen in some time. It’s fresh, well executed, beautifully shot, powerfully acted, and an extremely satisfying thriller." - 8.5/10, 411Mania "Easily the best monster movie since the arrival of Cloverfield in 2008, A Quiet Place is an absolute stunner that just fires on every cylinder." - 4.5/5, Daily Dead "A Quiet Place is a tautly original genre-bending exercise, technically sleek and accomplished, with some vivid, scary moments, though it’s a little too in love with the stoned logic of its own premise." - Variety These are pretty much the only reviews so far, but I expect many more reviews soon. Are you excited for A Quiet Place? I love Emily Blunt, and the film itself is getting such great reviews, that i can't wait to see it.
