I think people are looking wayyyyy too far into the logic of 'A Quiet Place' and are thus discovering "plot holes". It's supposed to be a 90 minute adrenaline shot of pure tension. Nitpicking something like "the baby wouldn't have been that quiet" or "the military would've discovered that before" is kinda beside the point. The film is solely an exercise in terror and tension.

It is stunningly overrated, with a awful cliffhanger ending for the sequel of course. Think Jeepers Creepers meets Alien. Just another creature feature. 7/10 at best.

This. There is a lot that was left unexplained, so many reasons for why things happened as they did. We don't know why military didn't figure out what the girl did. Maybe there were too many and it wiped out organuzed humanity before tjey had a chance. The pregnancy was probably an accident. Even they wanted to terminate, maybe there was no way to safely do it? My biggest issue was how quiet tje newborn was, but even then, maybe it was sick or hurt during labor?

It possibly could've been sick or hurt. The labor must've been pretty damn rough haha. Poor lady. Or maybe it was just a quiet baby. I'm no doula but I have like 5 siblings and I don't recall any of them being particularly loud at all. I doubt they wanted to terminate and it seemed rather intentional because A) The family seemed pretty traditional in their actions and appearances and B) I thought of the baby as a replacement for **SPOILER** (I can never get the spoiler tag things to work) their son that got killed in the beginning of the film.

i was thinking whether the film was a metaphor for lack of freedom of expression. there are always people out there to get you if you speak out of turn.

Those people had their brains broken by a combination of mediocre crowd-pleasers getting rave reviews from uneducated professional critics, and a culture of self-absorbed Youtube reviewers who care more about popularity than saying anything.

It's fantastic from start to finish, a horror-thriller with a brain. Most flicks like this involve morons finding ways to die while AQP features competent people finding ways to survive. It doesn't Shyamalan you to death by overexplaining lame plot twists, it just ratchets up the tension and ends exactly where it needs to. Ultimately it's the story of a family. Families have disagreements and misunderstandings; but when it comes down to it, they love each other, the help each other, they fight for each other.
Brilliant film, probably my favorite of the year so far.

One of the newspaper clippings stated that there were only a handful of monsters in the area, so it should be possible to kill all of them - although I don't know how they could ever be sure that they got all of the monsters.

And it isn't guaranteed that they'd be able to get both of them at the same time. That's what's great about that scene, the resolution isn't the point. The point is they now have a chance, there's hope beyond the fear. This film is brilliant in that it doesn't over explain anything. What the creatures are or where they come from is never addressed because that isn't important to the story. I don't interpret it to be a cliffhanger so much as it's an open ending. You don't know if they'll make it, but at least they're taking the fight to the monsters instead of just trying not to die. Finally they have hope for a better future.

Interesting. to me it meant "they are all gonna be dead soon" (battle lost). Because if I remember correctly there was an aerial shot showing how multiple (as in more than a couple, felt like a whole bunch) were coming her way. So the way I understood it is "we are going to fight to the death - but ultimately they will die)

If that is the case, I agree, they will certainly die.
