I'm not sure if many have heard, but CBS is developing a series based on the LA Confidential film. It intially didn't mean anything to me, but they have now casted a number of really good TV actors who I enjoy like Walton Goggins, Shea Wigham and Sarah Jones. Because of this my interest has really peaked in the series. However, I'm worried because it's on CBS they'll probably just try to turn it into a procedural. I really hope that isn't the case and CBS takes a chance and makes it serialized. They can make it into a limited series with a short run of 13 or less episodes.

The original idea, before they made the movie, was to make a TV show. I liked the movie a lot, but I would love to see a show adapt the book properly.

Am I the only one not excited about this? This fad of turning cop movies into TV shows has so far churned out mostly dogs**t. Training Day, Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour (also CBS).

I hadn't heard about it. I don't remember much about the movie, but I would love to see a cop show set in the 40s or 50s in LA.
