So what is your opinion about the band Dream Theater ?
Do you think they are the greatest band in the history of music ? Do you think they are the worst band in the history of music ? Or do you think they are just a average band ?
I think they are ok.

I've loved them since I was in my teens. They were the first band I'd heard that combined two of my favorite genres: prog rock and metal. I was also immensely inspired by John Petrucci as a player. I think up until about Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence they were one of the best bands on the planet. Since then I don't think they've been as consistently inspired, but there's still a lot of great material spread around their 21st century albums; but Images & Words, Awake, Scenes from a Memory, and Six Degrees... are IMO all classics of the genre.

My favorite band. All I’ll say is “Dream Theater’s music is nothing but technical wankery” is one of the most ignorant and stupid things I’ve ever heard.

Technical skill: 10/10. My enjoyment of their music: 6/10.

Yes, they are definitely the best musical artist of all time. Bigger than the Beatles.

Genuinely never heard of them. If you have any interest in prog rock or metal at all, you should at least listen to Images & Words. It was a game-changer when it came out in the 90s, and kinda the standard to which all later prog metal bands have been measured by. (That said, many consider Scenes from a Memory their best; my personal favorite is Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence followed by Awake).

I listened to all of Images and Works - not my bag at all I'm afraid to say.
