...if I am not mistaken, Valiant was absorbed by Marvel...

In the movies at least the biggest difference is the humor. Marvel knows how to mix in drama with comedy and action and all the other magic, and Joss Whedon is the absolute master at that.
DC movies, including the "good" Nolan Batman ones, have been bone-dry joyless in every aspect. Some people confuse that for maturity or seriousness, but to me it's just lacking an important layer of the comic book experience.

Nowadays there really isn’t any difference. Specific characters are different sure, but there isn’t a noticeable company specific trait that one has but the other doesn’t.
A common thought is, Marvel has flawed heroes and DC has altruistic ones, but that hasn’t been true for decades, if it ever really was.

There's a Marvel DC crossover where the differences in the two universes come through in how the cities look. The DC cities are modern high tech and clean while the Marvel ones are older and dirty-looking.
And Marvel tends to fight to resolve things more than discussions like DC.
But speaking as movies, though I havent watched any of the DC ones since the Dark Knight or so, I think they did a better job making movies than Marvel with Disney. FOX did a better job than Marvel-Disney.
Marvel-Disney--their movies are super-processed and devoid of a personal signature. Their music is boring, their characters stand around telling jokes, destroying any suspense. Their CGI often looks cartoonish.

Uh, watch the DCEU movies, then judge. I have a hunch they cant suck as badly as Disney-Marvel or Dis-Marv for short.

How can I doubt the Captain of the Enterprise? But even if they suck (and I am not defending DCEU movies at all) Marvel-Disney ones still suck and I rate them worse than the Nolan movies which I might add I am not a fan of.

Fair enough but at least you've seen those. Go watch the DCEU movies, then see where ya stand.

I tend to like DC Comics a little more, but I do love Marvel. As for their current movie universes, Marvel has the edge but they have more movies too. DC did Wonder Woman just right, others have been flawed. Not a fan of Leto's Joker, but then, he wasn't exactly given much to do. I wish the Hulk had his own series, he's worthy and different.
Personally, I'm just anticipating the new Hellboy movie!

I would say female characters first and foremost. DC have always been better with handling their female characters and have some of the most popular female superheroes of all time with Supergirl, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Starfire, Raven, Zatanna, Black Canary, the Huntress, Lady Blackhawk, Batwoman, the Spoiler, Orphan, Saturn Girl, Vixen, Bluebird, Stargirl, Black Orchid, Katana, Wonder Girl, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Lady Shiva, Phantom Lady etc while Marvel have always struggled to come up with female characters as popular. While neither are as good as Image Comics with female characters DC is the best of the two in that field.
