Anyone here who's male ever read it? I ask because this book seems to only be of interest to females. I'm just wondering if a male could enjoy it as well.

I haven't read the book, but I've seen the movie multiple times. From what I gather, the story is nearly identical. I have a fascination with the story because I have a personal connection to it. I grew up during the same time period only a couple of hours away from Mississippi. For about the first seven years of my life we employed a black maid/nanny as did many families back then. There shouldn't be any reason you can't read and possibly enjoy a book or a film which is primarily of interest to women or any group of which you are not a part. I try to put myself in their shoes to better understand their point of view. Sometimes I learn things which I had never thought about before.

No, but I read 'The Book of Negros'.
Does that count?
