anyone seen this film? I saw it recently. found it a bit boring and depressing. It was okay. I remember Jeffrey dean morgan in it, don't remember anyone else's name. I much prefer some other superhero movies I have seen such as superman 1-4, superman returns, man of steel, batman & Spiderman films.

Visuals and soundtrack were good, but the movie was too long.

I lucked out by seeing the second half first, so when I saw The Comedian getting beaten to death in the beginning, I really loved it because he was such a vile character--Jackie Earl Holliday as Rorschact was incredible, he should have gotten an Oscar, and Billy Crudup was great as Dr Manhattan("There has been a Cataclysmic Event")--Good use of old music--A very unusual Super Hero film--I liked it better than Black Panther

He was in an episode of Sliders. 1996 season two episode El Sid as the character Sid. I have yet to see the walking dead.

It's a very good movie but I still want the theatrical release on blu ray.

I love it, but I've really only seen it once, and that one time was 3 years ago. Maybe I'll give it another chance if I weren't so biased against the director's cut's runtime, which is the version I own.

I don't usually like superhero movies. This one is an exception.

I like it a lot. The source material is much better imo. But the movie was on the right track. I’ve always loved the Comedian, vile as he is. Rorschach is excellent. The movie didn’t quite capture Ozymandias the way the comic portrays him. Aesthetically the movie was great and the action scenes were quite fun.

As an adaptation much better than I could ever have expected. Snyder's last good film

You know who's a great directing choice for an adaptation of a comic criticizing objectivist superheroes? A guy who loves Ayn Rand, that's who! I've never seen an adaptation so slavishly faithful to the source material whilst completely missing the point.
Someone described the fights as "fun". A movie about how messed up the world would be if superheroes were real shouldn't have "fun" fight scenes. All Snyder cared about was how dark the comic was, while indifferent at best about what it was trying to say.

Agreed, I love this flick despite its flaws-- most glaring is its total mistreatment of Ozymandias. Easily my favorite character from the comic and arguably the greatest comic villain ever. It speaks volumes for the rest of the film that I enjoy it despite my favorite character essentially being butchered. The film does have a kind of stiffness to it, but I think it only adds to the disconcerting tone that was certainly intended for the story. And though they ruined Ozy, they nailed (and I mean they really nailed) pretty much everyone else. At the end of the day the source material was too dense for a two or even three hour timeframe, but what we got was still pretty damn good.

A movie about how messed up the world would be if superheroes were real shouldn't have "fun" fight scenes. All Snyder cared about was how dark the comic was, while indifferent at best about what it was trying to say. I've heard this criticism a lot and while I understand where it's coming from, it may not be entirely accurate. I agree Snyder was slavishly faithful to a fault at times, but I also believe the weaker elements of the story (i.e., Ozymandias coming off as a stock James Bond villain so as to surprise nobody with his turn; the "fun" fight scenes; the alternate ending when compared to the comic) were Snyder's attempts to compromise the comic with the medium of film. There had to be a few 'trailer moments' to jazz up the advertising and make sure anyone who wasn't a hardcore fan didn't fall asleep in their seats. And maybe Snyder thought people wouldn't understand Adrian's turn without a ton of the story being devoted to him on screen, so they just made him an arrogant prick with no personality so the audience could more easily understand his motives. He clearly thought a faked alien invasion was something the audience wouldn't swallow. The film doesn't capture the feel of the comic 100%, nobody is going to argue that. But I do think Snyder did a more than adequate job conveying the themes of the story, given the time constraints of a motion picture as opposed to the source material or a television series for example.
