I don't like it. I barely use it, but I hate the way it is changing people and how they listen to music. I am still very much pro CD and FLAC. But this "Stopify" is making people lazy with music. They never buy physical copies now that they have "everything" (No, it's not everything. There's actually missing albums in artists' discographies if they were smart enough to realize) available on their stupid little telephones.
And what is up with that ad with that stupid tune that plays in between songs [when I guess they have the free version] that is annoying as hell? They don't even have more than 1 ad? Just the same one with the stupid tune every time?
The only reason I use this program (on my PC) is when I want to check out a new artist/band and are sampling some songs. (previously I would just use YouTube) And if I like what I hear I would then proceed to download the FLAC, and if I really like it, eventually I would purchase the CD to support them.

The problem really lies with the music bands or singers , Caesar . It depends on the online music platform they can either go with or decide to be with . In some instances , they are only on one platform like Itunes or Spotify . Some only release their music digitally , as I have found out . So I belong to Spotify , Itunes , Pledge Music , Bandcamp , Indiegogo Music , Sound Cloud , CD Baby as well as some who sell through their own labels and sites . And you need to back up all those digital files too . Personally I still believe in Cd's and collect them .

if i want to listen to an album on my computer, I'll buy the cd and rip it to FLAC
I'll use spotify on occasion if there's an independent artist I like who only has digital distribution only and i want to preview the album
Otherwise, I have no use for it

It's pretty damn pointless if you ask me. We have a site called YouTube for that stuff.

I'm about to switch over from Amazon Music, so I'll get back to you.

I mean we got these bots uploading the songs under channels that are called "(artist name) - topic" amazon prime gives streaming music to the paying member. I'm the added member so I don't get that And with youTube having those auto-generated '(artist) - topic" channels, it's not needed

I never actually tried Amazon Prime, but then again I don't plan to, anyway

I don't understand. What reason is there to belong to any of that?

I've noticed a few missing albums so far - what I really need is an app that compares the catalog of Amazon Music and Spotify so I can see what one has that the other doesn't. Both still have semi-obscure stuff I'd never expect them to have, though.

They could be uploading a crappy 128kbps mp3 file which YouTube probably then compresses even more. That said, I still do use YouTube to sample new music. I wouldn't dream of actually listening to them properly on it though. At least with Stupify you know you're at least getting a clean 320kbps or whatever it is.

A lot of artists I like are independent artists with only digital distribution. I do not want your music on a damn low quality mp3

I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to digital song formats. I think it sounds pretty good on YouTube when uploaded to their topic channels.
In a physical form, I never liked vinyl because of the static/scratching sounds. If a cassette is worn, songs slow down after a while. With CDs, scratches can make it skip or not play at all.
As for the original topic: I can't see paying a monthly service fee if I'm just going to listen to music here and there. The ads on YouTube generate revenue for the artist anyhow.

Are you a Luddite or something? CDs are made of plastic, the less we use, the less we pollute the planet.
