This Canadian-British co-production had an interesting premise; an old Nazi freighter that was once used as a torture chamber for concentration camp prisoners is haunted by Nazi demons and terrorizes other ships on the ocean. Unfortunately, the movie does not live up to its potential as a great horror film. Due to the limited budget, the crash scene had to rely on stock footage from the movie The Last Voyage, and as a result we don't know exactly how those particular survivors made it. There is no intensity or real chills, and a couple of minor shock scenes don't amount to much. George Kennedy, who was usually a fine actor, gives a rather dull performance as the possessed captain and no doubt that he wished he never signed on for this. The best thing about this stinker is the poster art (which was blatantly ripped off by the 2002 film Ghost Ship).

It has one advantage over Ghost Ship--they used a real ship, not a bunch of CGI backgrounds.
I think it would make a good double feature with SHOCK WAVES--which also contains a haunted Nazi ship (though not as a main part of the story).

Hmm... 4.8. Think I'll be giving this one a miss.

The poster art has always intrigued me, and I always assumed it would have to e Be better than Ghost Ship which, as noted, used a worse version of the same design for its poster. Never actually felt the need to watch it though.

Crap movie. Has a cool poster. I'd give it a re-watch for early roles of Saul Rubinek and Nick Mancuso. Kate Reid and George Kennedy? It has a decent cast. Been over 30 years since I saw it but I remember not being overwhelmed. If I thought it was crap at 12 I doubt I'd find it any better now. I did quite like 'Ghost Ship (2012). Good spooky atmosphere.

I actually quite like it. The poster artwork does pull you in though.
It’s a ramshackle B-picture all round, yet I do like the concept and the eerie atmosphere aboard the tin-bucket. I thought the animated Nazi propaganda sequence was well done & the shower set-piece too.

Saw it in the 80's and really liked it, maybe I'd have a different opinion if I saw it again now. All I can really recall is the candy scene.

Despite the shower scene, the bad editing near the end, and the reason the ship killed people or how left unexplained. It's worth seeing.

The trailer doesn't do this flick any favors.

Yeah, what a mess of a trailer.
I'm reminded a bit of the Edgar Wright trailer from Grindhouse, minus the voice over. Any notion of a plot or of characters is incomprehensible from that trailer.
