Black Panther just broke 600 mill domestic. Its only 59 mill behind Titanic, which would be a stretch, but not at all impossible for it to do. At that point it would be about another 100 mill behind the next movie (Avatar) so it wont make that, but still, what an amazing achievement so far!
However, BP has had one very strong advantage: No REAL competition. None of us ever believed Wrinkle in Time, or Tomb Raider, or even the upcoming Pacific Rim 2 was going to dethrone BP.
BUT, Avengers Infinity War will have stiff competition right off the bat. The summer season is packed with movies that will give it a good run for the money.
So, can even Avengers Infinity War beat Black Panther at this point? I don't know. Seems doubtful...

Quite possibly not, because we all know Black Panther is making insane amounts of money because certain people have turned it into a civil rights march.
I don't think it really matters, but it's possible that it won't make as much money as BP.

I think it can. Disney's had multiple billion dollar hits in a single calendar year before.

It can and it should. BP does have the political commentary behind it, but IW is (allegedly) a huge step forward in the MCU story. That should bring everyone to the theater that has ever watched an MCU movie.
Still, crazier things have happened I guess.
