Hating it that Luke dies? We will get a Force Ghost Luke in the next one but it just isn't the same. And why did he die? Everyone else had a good reason. Killed by a light saber or old age.
How it doesn't make any sense that now the Force allows one to travel to see, hear and even feel the touch of another and engage in a light saber duel thousands of miles away?
The fast pace of the new ones is too much. I'm still trying to figure out what I just saw or get a feeling for it then they do a real fast jump cut to another scene. I much prefer the slower pacing of the first one which is one of the reasons why it is perfection.
Yeah, looks like SW is jumping the shark.

I don't envision him to go out fighting, but rather doing it for the greater good. Here he fights his evil nephew while buying the rebels some time. It worked for me.
Personally, I feel the real problem with the sequel trilogy is The Force Awakens. Out of all the countless ways to take the story, they chose to remake A New Hope with new characters and slightly different bells and whistles. It's the most creatively bankrupt way to continue the series after 30 years and acts as a poor foundation for Episodes 8 & 9.

I would have replaced the Starkiller thing since it either didn't make sense or wasn't explained enough. Otewsie the characters are great, the old characters were back and it was a jolly old time at the theater. I don't think people realize how many people either have never even seen Star Wars or don't have much of an appreciation for it and Force Awakens was a nice way to reset the themes while nostalgia nuts could go gaga over the old guys. My kids look at Star Wars as simply a sci-fi movie since they didn't have the phenomenon of its release. Force Awakens had that for them. My wife never saw a Star Wars movie until then and she talked her parents into seeing it and they enjoyed it.

Which I just figure are nightmares that Luke had.

Well, if the Jedi can project themselves in death, why not life? I didn't like that Luke died since, with Carrie Fisher dead, that leaves none of the original trio for episode 9. It also felt kind of pointless to have the projection fake-out only for him to die anyway.

Liked the film, but really, couldn't care less that Luke died. All the Jedi/force bollocks is one element of Star Wars films that I got bored with very quickly

I actually did not mind Luke dying. I actually assumed it. It is time to move on from the old cast. Imo, The Last Jedi was slower paced in comparison considering what the story boiled down to and with so much time wasted on Planet Monaco. Agreed, I just wish they had moved on from the old cast completely and not felt the need to ruin Luke before killing him off. Either leave him out of the story or give him a Yoda or even Han type of death scene instead of turning him into a clown and a coward and then killing him off.

At least give him/us one more time at the thrill of seeing him use his light saber for real.
