She was a promising ingenue in such films as STATE FAIR and ONE, TWO, THREE. And then, poof! Off the radar! Wiki is not very informative; all it says is that she is "retired". Did she ever try to make a comeback? Or was she so disillusioned that she just quit? She was married twice, with two daughters "Echo" and "Aurora". And we think that today's celebrities saddle their poor kids with ridiculous names, ! She is now 73-74, but numerous actors are still active even when they grow old.

D’après Wikipedia: I suppose that, if she lived in Italy, it would be a bit difficult to fly back to Los Angeles all the time. And maybe she preferred working in Italian film anyway? She was a lot of fun in One, Two Three, one of my favorite Wilders.

There are so many that appear, are the Next Big Thing for about two weeks, and then, as you say, drop off the radar. A few other actresses around Tiffin’s time that meet this description are : Shirley Eaton, Gayle Hunnicutt, and Dyan Cannon. The American movie industry is a tough business to get to the top in and then maintain once you are there. A lot of factors – including dumb luck – determine who succeeds and who doesn’t.

"In 1974 Pamela Tiffin retired from acting and married Roman philosopher Edmondo Danon, son of Italian movie producer Marcello Danon. They have two daughters Echo Angelica Danon a part time actress, photographer, singer and co-founder of the music collective So Does The Fire and Aurora Hillego Danon, a designer". "Edmondo is the president of the Hesperia Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in New York City" "In thinking about his children’s dual nationality and the fact that they would grow up in the United States and consider themselves Americans, Danon began to imagine that the best possible way for them and other young people to learn about Italian culture would be to study it on the spot with teachers from first-rank U.S. colleges and universities. He finally brought his dream into the waking world in 1994. The Hesperia Institute’s goal is to expose every summer about 15 U.S. undergraduates to Italian art and literature of the 14th through the 16th centuries, and to do that intensively, with none of the usual distractions caused by trudging from city to city" The girl on the right is Pamela's oldest daughter Echo Danon. The girl on the left is Pamela's youngest daughter Aurora Danon. Sorry, but this is all that I've been able to dig up.

Shirley Eaton, Gayle Hunnicutt, and Dyan Cannon. I was shocked to learn GH was from Texas recently. She was in a number of English and European made films in the 70s. Just assumed she was British--if she had an accent she hid it well.

(The late John Hillerman, whose Transatlantic accent tended more towards English as well, was also Texan.) She was probably the screen’s best Irene Adler in the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes adaptation of “A Scandal in Bohemia.”

I assumed Hillerman was British too. Some actors I can accept in historical British movies without seeing them as alien--Vincent Price, Orson Welles, Burgess Meredith... for some reason the accent or voice doesn't jar me.

Dyan Cannon Perhaps best known for her trademark curly blond tresses and her faithful appearances at L.A. Lakers basketball games, Dyan Cannon has enjoyed nearly fifty years in the entertainment industry. Born Samille Diane Friesen in Tacoma, Washington, Cannon had early dreams of becoming an actress. She made her screen debut with a small part in the critically acclaimed crime drama The Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond (1960). A short-lived television series called This Rebel Breed (1960) followed that same year. It was during this time that she caught the eye of one of Hollywood's favorite leading men, Cary Grant, who was 35 years her senior. The couple, a hotbed of Hollywood gossip, experienced an on-again, off-again relationship until marrying in 1965. Cannon left her acting career behind during her marriage to Grant and bore his daughter, Jennifer Grant, in 1966. she returned to the big screen in 1969 in the pop-culture classic Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969), garnering an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. etc .. see ABOVE link for more films and trivia... with George Hamilton in "EIGHT HEADS IN A DUFFEL BAG"

Shirley Eaton IMDb Link "Shirley was not an "overnight success". For nearly a decade, she had appeared in a number of 1950s and early 1960s British dramatic films and slapstick farce. Shirley became quite a sought-after actress internationally but, by the end of the decade, the dark-browed blonde beauty intentionally bade Hollywood and her acting career a fond and permanent farewell. She has never looked back." "Shirley Jean Eaton began on stage as a youth, making her debut at age 12 in "Set to Partners" (1949) and following it up the following year with Benjamin Britten's "Let's Make an Opera"." "Shirley's career hit international status, of course, when she played "Jill Masterson", one of a bevy of beauties linked to titular archvillain Gert Fröbe in the film, Goldfinger (1964)." "In its wake, Hollywood beckoned and Shirley immediately won a number of female leads in melodrama, crime yarns, war stories and rugged adventures. Many of her movies remain interesting to the public today as they are a product reflective of their times, and a number of them have achieved cult status." After Shirley's self-imposed retirement, she dedicated herself to her family. She published her autobiography entitled "Golden Girl". She appears at film festivals that appreciate her cult celebrity. She enjoys painting and has made a return to the stage.

Does Pamela still live in Italy? In 1974 Tiffin remarried, and she retired from the screen to raise a family and pursue other interests. Today she lives in New York City with husband Edmondo Danon and her two daughters. "Edmondo is the president of the Hesperia Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in New York City" Pamela Tiffen (IMDb Link )

She was a lot of fun in One, Two Three, one of my favorite Wilders. Ah, yes--I forgot about HARPER, where Paul Newman was hired to find Pam's missing millionaire father. Lauren Bacall played her mother, and both women hated the missing man.

Also, on the "whatever became of..." subject, there is that gifted child actor of the '70's, Lee Harcourt Montgomery. Again, Wiki says nothing of his adult life; he just "disappeared". I suppose he decided to keep his life private--something increasingly hard to do in this "information age".

Lee (Harcourt) Montgomery (IMDb LINK)"Brother of actress Belinda Montgomery, Lee began his career as a model before venturing into the acting business. He made his debut in the Disney film The Million Dollar Duck (1971), before landing a starring role in Ben (1972), the sequel to Willard (1971). Lee made a successful transformation into adult roles with films such as Mutant (1984), with Wings Hauser and The Legend of Wolf Lodge (1988), co-starring Susan Anspach. Lee probably is best remembered for his portrayal of "Jeff Malene" in the teen comedy Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), alongside the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. Since more or less of dropping out of the limelight, Lee pursued his other interests, such as music related projects, where he composed the soundtrack for the film Legend of the Phantom Rider (2002) (aka Trigon: The Legend of Pelgidium (2000))."

Does Pamela still live in Italy? Apparently she lives in New York in anonymity. Sometimes stars who says they gonna be mothers, can't stand it after 2 -3 years and returns to acting, and later send their kids to boarding schools. Sometimes actresses enjoy being out of the preasures of contracts, and that they don't have to look good every second of their lives, and enjoys life in anonymity... and don't yearn for a comeback...

Sometimes actresses enjoy being out of the preasures of contracts, and that they don't have to look good every second of their lives, and enjoys life in anonymity... and don't yearn for a comeback... Nowadays, actors are contracted for one movie at a time, and are no longer "chained" to the studios. During the "studio system" of Hollywood's "Golden Age", some stars, especially WB contractees Jimmy Cagney, Bette Davis, and Olivia de Havilland tried to "break" the chain. Some of them went on to successful careers with other studios, while others were given far better scripts at their home studios. The "studio system" ended in the '50's. before Pamela Tiffen's career began.
