I hated her. She was extremely annoying to me. And this is why.
Debra was simple-minded. She saw everything as black and white. She could not see reality as shades of grey. In other words, she was stupid.
She couldn't accept her brother as a serial killer. Even though he only went after bad guys who often had slipped through the cracks of the system and gotten away with murder. Even though he was an otherwise good brother, good employee, good friend, good husband, good father, etc.
And she couldn't accept Hannah even though she loved her brother, he loved her, they made each other happy, and Hannah wanted to like her.
This is why I never liked Debra. She was a stupid, over-emotional, hysterical, promiscuous, foul-mouthed lunatic who made everything worse she got involved in for herself and everybody else.
Did you like her? Did you hate her? Where you indifferent? Why?

I liked her which is not an option in that poll. You could vote "loved her".

I voted for indifferent, but I'm not sure that's really accurate. I liked certain things about her and disliked certain things about her. She was honest, direct, hard working, and for the most part had her morals in the right place. On the other hand, she was definitely hysterical, needlessly defensive, and while I have nothing against profanity as a general rule, the extreme she took it to could be annoying.

I liked her in the early seasons. Once she falls for her brother, it's all downhill. Though her killing Laguerta was an interesting angle to go down.

I was angry that they killed her. Even though I didn't like her, I didn't want her to die. I would have preferred if she lived, Dexter made it to Argentina to hook up with Hannah and Harrison. They lived happily ever after. And Dexter kept killing bad guys.

Many people cannot see it. But Debra was an inevitable disaster. Everything she got involved in was ruined by her.
People identify, empathize and sympathize with her. But she ruined everything she got involved in for herself and everybody else.
The police force should have told her early on, "You do not have the right temperament for homicide. If you want to stay on the police force, we need to find something else for you. Because you are not cut out for homicide."
She was bad for the police force. She was bad for the other detectives. She was bad for her family. She was bad for her brother. She was bad for herself. Everyone and everything ended up suffering when Debra became involved with them or it.

Every person in every TV show ever sees things as black and white, with maybe 3 exceptions.

I thought she was kinda good at being a supporting actress.. I thought it was just weird that they tried to make it incestuous, a few times.

Bottom line... her character is part of what makes the show work as well as it does as Dexter/Debra are one of the better things about the general shows character interaction. so given the poll choices, which are pretty much like saying 'Thumbs Up/Neutral/Thumbs Down', I voted for... "Loved her." p.s. I seen that show in it's entirety for the first time between Sep 1st 2016 and Oct 3rd 2016. ill likely re-watch it no later than sometime next year. farcoat If I recall correctly, I am pretty sure they are not blood related. hence, not truly incestuous. but with that said... I would imagine that would still be awkward being they grew up as brother/sister. Nicko's Nose Look at it this way... the poll is pretty much giving you three choices which could be translated to... Thumbs Up or Neutral or Thumbs Down. given this choice you would be apart of the Thumbs Up category. hence, 'loved her' basically. I know that 'liked her' and 'loved her' mean different things but it's close enough to where you are apart of the 'loved her' group when stuck to the choices in the topic since there are only one positive, one negative, and one neutral choice.
