Watching Guardians of the Galaxy and one thing I can't help but notice is how Chris Prattle had to practically change into a different person for an action role but we still get skinny women like Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan in warrior roles. I don't even want to get into the difference between Gal Gadot and her co-stars.

Dont understand your point? You mean its unfair for Chris Pratt to build muscle and become hench whilst for women its ok to be skinny?

They should actually look capable in a fight against powerful enemies, and kinda like the men.

Who says the women aren't in shape for movies like this? Look at Gal Gadot and Alicia Vikander for Wonder Woman and Tomb Raider.

They should actually look capable in a fight against powerful enemies, and kinda like the men. You're simply not going to get many actresses who would be believable beating up larger men and/or monsters, even if they worked out for the role.

We don't exactly have a lack of variety of men in movies.

She's obviously a great choice for action but surely there's actresses out there that also have the build for action. It's almost like movie studios are avoiding them or something.

I suppose what you mean is someone who seems more the type for an action film-like that woman wearing white in the Road Warrior, the one with the bow. Not necessarily strong physically but forceful personality. There is little of that on display in movies these days.
All I remember of the blue-green women in Guardians was the bald one getting her jaw knocked out of alignment.
Actual athletic women don't always make good actors though.
Watch Nemesis 2: Nebula. Caught that on cable one day. WTF am I watching? was my reaction.
Bodybuilder women do not make good actresses much of the time.
