And I know that, because Lucas said 'there is no episode VII:' Don't you feel that any future star wars film only even has a chance of being good, if it takes place within the star wars universe? Basically what i'm saying is that standalone films like rouge 1 for example or solo could be good, at least have the possibility of being decent? I mean, rouge 1 had it's problems(haven't seen it but I heard) but at least it takes place within the star wars universe, just like Solo, which will have problems as well.

future movies could be good but will only be "Star Wars" in name only, but i don't think that will happen under Kennedy

I know this is a troll post, but 9 episodes were planned as far back as Return of the Jedi. Maybe earlier.

There is conflicting evidence and statements over the years that there was anything between 1 and 11 films planned by Lucas. I had an issue of UK magazine Look-in where Lucas was interviewed. Star Wars was already a success (films generally came out about 6 months after US release in UK back then). He was asked if he was thinking of a sequel and he said something along the lines of he wasn't sure and was thinking of doing a film about the life of Obi Wan!

I'm glad it didn't stop there...everything after the prequels has been better than all of them with the exception of IV & V

He did have one sequel planned after ANH, which was written as a novel in case ANH flopped. Why else would Vader survive the first film but to leave room for a sequel where Luke confronts him, which is what the novel was about. Vader wasn't supposed to be his father at this point, so Luke just ends up killing him, roll credits. The success of ANH changed everything, of course. The prequels were planned by ESB (the title crawl had "Episode V" upon release). I said 7-9 were planned by ROTJ because I have a video of the premiere where they're talking about them. Never heard anything about an episode 10 or 11 myself.
