What films would make up your personal marathon of WW2 movies? Assume you wanted to cover the general timeline of the war ie I personally wouldn't choose two movies focusing on the same event.

If I’m being honest I don’t know all the exact moments of the war to say what the timeline should be...but here’s a list of the ones I’d watch...
Saving Private Ryan Fury The Great Escape Enemy at the Gates Casablanca
The tv series Band of Brothers would be my first choice but I’d need an entire day just to watch that one show, so I won’t include it with the films.

The only World War II movie I own is "Where Eagles Dare", so it's going to be a rather short marathon.

I've thought about doing this sort of thing before. It's difficult to get it perfect because some films are too broad (Patton, The Big Red One). Some such as Slaughterhouse-Five have only small parts I would include (Dresden scenes). Here's a first attempt, though. The dates I've listed are approximate and just for reference in order to choose how to line the film settings up chronologically.

I haven't seen it in years, but I remember it's one of the few films which depict German aviator, Hanna Reitsch. I'll have to check out some of the films on your list which I haven't seen. I forgot about Battle of the Bulge. I loved that movie when I was young, but I later realized how terribly inaccurate it is. Oh well, they all have some degree of inaccuracy.

Yeah that was fascinating. The first third of the film feels like a German The Right Stuff. I like one scene where they show the graves of the previous test pilots and you assume she one of them, then we see her rocket flying by in the distance. Also, the resistance people are shown to be ruthless too--an unusually highly suspenseful film due to the stakes of both sides. Like Anthony Quayle seeking the identity of the enemy agent. Desert Commandos and some others are really just melodrama Italian-made WW 2 movies but that one in particular is interesting as it has the same plot as The Eagle Has Landed. Much less ambitious though.
