Matt Barnes is the definition of a subpar, mediocre, overused reliever, don’t know why the Sox seem to love him so much. Their bullpen is weak behind Kimbrel, no consistent set up guy, they did a really poor job in that area, they never seem to have a solid bullpen. Sale was pulled way too early, after only 5 innings, same thing happened in the opener at the Trop on Thursday, Sale was brilliant and the pen shit the bed. I haven't hated a Red Sox player this much since the legendary Heathcliff Slocomb. I've seen that same Barnes inning before. Two quick out, then two walks, then serve up a grapefruit. Did you see Lewis Brinson rob Mookie. I've never seen an outfielder "slow roll" an umpire, and it was funny. Don't do it on a poker table, Lewis. Lewis Brinson has been impressive, not the first excellent defensive play I’ve seen him make this season, he was the top guy we got in exchange for Yelich from Milwaukee and I think he will be a strong player. Red Sox pull it out in 13 but the Fish have been more competitive than I expected them to be so far, yeah we have no offense whatsoever but we’ve managed to put up nice fights against the Cubs and Sox and I like some of the younger players I’ve seen so far.

Yeah, I don't think the Fish will be an easy win that teams will think. At least until the dog days of summer. They have guts and, to quote Gunnery Sgt. Hartman, "sometimes guts is enough"

Matt Harvey was good, not great, in his 2018 debut. What I really liked seeing was him not trying to overthrow to get into that 96-98 range. Instead, he stayed around 91/92, dialed it up to 94 in a few spots and otherwise relied on good separation with his breaking pitches. That's what he needs to do and he can totally reinvent himself as a quality pitcher again. We'll see but so far so good.
You know what, Phillies fans should be excited. This is a good young team with a lot of quality pieces. I still don't think they are quite there this year but their future is as bright as any. They can hang around in contention for the wild card for a while but for them to do any real damage, literally every single thing would have to break right for them. Possible sure, but unlikely. And I'm all for an analytics approach to the way the game is played and maybe Gabe Kapler is on to something, but there has to be a middle ground. He'll decimate his bullpen by mid-May playing every game like a playoff game in terms of his pitching staff. Now and again, a starter will have to go through a lineup for a third time. Now and again, your eye can be more honest than the stat sheet (see Aaron Boone walking an injured Josh Donaldson to face a red-hot Justin Smoak because the analytics supported it and losing the game because of it).

Brew Crew with back to back walk off wins. 4-1 to start season. Could Bernie Brewer be using his slide in October?
Shohei Ohtani hits a HR, goes 3-4. Damn, he looked overmatched in spring Training. The Angels would have sent him down if they could have.

D-Backs sweep the Dodgers, once again the D-Backs are flying under the radar, they are off to a 5-1 start, even with Goldschmidt in a terrible slump. I love what they have, versatile solid lineup with a very good pitching staff, Patrick Corbin with a brilliant start today.
Rockies are impressive as well, great offense as always and a top tier bullpen. I could see the Dodgers finishing 3rd in the NL West and missing the playoffs to be honest.

Fish got annihilated by the Phils today 20-1. We have been beyond lifeless in both of the 2 games in this series, we’ve never played well in Philly but what a disgrace, we at least tried to be competitive against the Cubs and Sox, but we’ve been outscored 25-1 against the Phils so far, just nauseating.

Jameson Taillon looks like an ace for the Pirates. Seen both of his starts, he has good stuff. Good for him, he's had a tough road to the majors.

Grichuk goes yard. Now has as many April 2017 HRs as his RF predecessor & it's still March. Homer fantasy pick for me btw. It's like cheating - selecting new Blue Jays in fantasy late because no one remembers how easy it is it to hit here unless you're watching 162. Nope.
