In the new movies the lightsaber action has been disappointing so far. Rey and Ren look like they are playing with toy swords. As a kid I could move around like that.
I love the Darth Maul duel. Maybe the other duels were not perfect, but I think they had the right idea,.

I haven't see any after the prequels. The Maul duel was the best of the prequel ones.
But then its also a case of being rendered immune to it. In the early 2000s I remember this guy on Force.net had done a cgi animation of Maul fighting him in his living room. The light saber effects were as good as the movies. Once it reaches a point where you can make a light saber fight in your living room-that's the end of the innate wow potential.
I guess they must have some really cool real light saber toys these days. I should get one. I bet the beam is really bright and cool and they have the swoosh sound built in.
They said when making the Phantom Menace Neeson had to stop from laughing because Macgregor kept making the swoosh sounds.

True. To be fair, I understand why they kind of avoid it or even leave it out in R1 and TLJ. After the dramatic Empire dual and epic Phantome Menace fight (and others) there is little room for improvement.
Personally love the Yoda-Palpatine duel in which they destroy the senate and Yoda is beaten, it's so metaphorical of these religions destroying democracy, and the Battle of the Heroes music rocks more than Dual of the Faiths did.

It really has. The throne room fight in TLJ was pretty good, but that wasn't even a true duel. It was just a skirmish.
All I wanted to see was old Luke whoop Kylo or Rey's ass in an actual lightsaber duel. I guess that's not happening.
