I never heard about that. Whats the story there?
The Beech, Danny Boyle and Ewan McGregor. The professiinal relationship was ruined for 17 years before they made amends.

Star Henry Fonda and legendary director John Ford had a long history together. Ford had given Fonda some early breaks in starring roles such as “Young Mr. Lincoln” (1939). They worked together many times. When the Broadway hit play “Mr. Roberts” was bought by Warner, the studio did not want Fonda in the title role even though he had originated the part on stage in NYC. John Ford, tagged as the director, fought successfully to get his old friend in the picture. But during production the two men clashed over the interpretation of the title Navy officer and the tone of the movie. The arguments culminated in Ford punching Fonda in the face. The two never spoke again.
James Cagney was also in the movie and was physically threatened by Ford. Cagney, a tough New Yorker, replied, “You want to tangle? I’m ready right now!” Ford backed down. He was later replaced by another director.
When the movie came out (1955), it was a big hit. No sign of the discord can be seen on screen.

George Clooney/ David O Russell - Three Kings
Ewan McGregor/Danny Boyle - The Beach. (They didn't speak for years)
Sean Young/James Wood - The Boost (He actually took out a restraining order against her)
Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston - Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Tony Kaye/Edward Norton - American History X (Kaye was a nutcase and Norton evidently wasn't)

One, Two, Three. That movie (with a little help from Horst Buchholz) ruined personal/creative relationship between Jimmy Cagney and the great world of cinema.
