I don't remember any of this controversy. Also this movie isn't much more violent than the first one. I do remember that it was a very popular movie.

Same thing happened after the first Ninja Turtles movie came out back in 1990. Stupid adults and their mollycoddling ways (I say this as someone who was a child during this period). Fortunately, my own Mum didn't prevent us from watching these films (though she drew the line at Jurassic Park). I gotta admit, that's an odd line to draw. It was the T-Rex’s introductory scene that did it. Seeing people getting hunted down and even eaten by a gigantic monster was the limit. In fairness, the suspense present in some of those scenes really is something else. Scary stuff for a lot of kids to sit through.
