RoboCop (1987) by Paul Verhoeven "Dead or alive, you're coming with me!" In the near future, Detroit City have become the number one crime-ridden capital of America, where violence and chaos are in complete control and where the citizens and police are both outnumbered and outgunned. But behind the bleak scenery, lies the huge and powerful corporation known as the OCP (Omni Consumer Products), who have their very own plans for a new and "better" city, thanks to their very own little pet project that is "Delta City". And in order to get on the good side of the people and police of Detroit, they decide to step in as the new "saviour" of the day, and getting rid of crime, once and for all. However, this great news do have its own downside, and where an unlucky Officer Alex J. Murphy (Peter Weller) ends up taking part as OCP's latest guinea pig, after a gruesome meeting with the ruthless crime lord, Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith). As a result, the OCP soon proudly unveil their latest product, the very first crime fighting cyborg and police unit, Robocop. An unstoppable police officer with only three primary directive: "Serve the public trust, Protect the innocent, and Uphold the law".I think I have probably already said "everything" there is to be said about this absolute 80s classic, several times over, so I am gonna keep it rather short this time. 10/10 "Bitches, Leave!"

Softly spoken, and well mannered Steven Seagal plays an ex-CIA agent who heads to Poland to rescue his special penpal - a 13 year old girl - from human traffickers. Very sluggish straight to DVD vehicle for Seagal. Talky investigating for most part, but it had frenetic final 15 mins with a typical unexciting sword duel climax. Also Seagal’s feeling extra lazy. Those watching know, he likes to give his stuntman a lot work, like wandering forests and walking down stairs, but on this occasion since it wasn’t entirely action packed. He gave the voice over department time to shine. At times you can laughably tell with his dubbed voice changing in-between scenes. The opening narration in the early scenes involving Seagal sharing his thoughts in the cornball letter readings particularly takes the cake. Some laughs, but mainly a bore.

Some laughs, but mainly a bore. I do not believe I have seen it, since maybe 2011-12 (or so) and I think I rated it a very kind 4/10, but yeah, one of those when I read your review, have some laughs and classic Seagal DTV stuff, but beside that, not exactly a very "thrilling" movie. I have yet to go through more of his DTV stuff, but hopefully I can come back to it someday, but again, I have to be in the right "mood" for that. Still, I might take a closer look at his far better material, the stuff he made during the late 80s and up till around mid 90s.

It was lacking in action and thrills... yet watching Seagal casually go about his business, mumbling his way through scenes as people stare in awe can be strangely hypnotic. I do have another 5 to go through... obviously Belly of the Beast and three re-watches with the oldest being Half Past Dead.

Gunga DinNot my favorite shot, but I picked it because it was one of the few on IMDb that showed not only Fairbanks, Grant, and McLaglen, but also (barely visible beyond Grant's right shoulder) Sam Jaffe. Hey, guys, come on--I know he wasn't big box office...but he played the title character! Sheesh!

Jeff Speakman followed up his solid action fare ‘The Perfect Weapon’ with ‘Street Knight’. A disappointingly bland urban action, which goes on to waste his talents (unlike ‘The Perfect Weapon’). Instead focusing on dramatic cues and a script lined with private investigating and deep conversations.. yeah, not much talent there. Unless you like waiting around for over an hour to see Speakman do what you were originally hoping... when it does happen, it’s not often, or particularly exciting. So it’s a waste. Interestingly this was the last film Cannon Films produced before bankruptcy. Not a great way to go out.

stefancrosscoe , I noticed the other day you watched the 1984 film ‘Flashpoint’. How did you like it? It popped up on my radar only last week when I was searching YouTube, and I put it on back-burner. Curious if I should push it forward?

stefancrosscoe , I noticed the other day you watched the 1984 film ‘Flashpoint’. How did you like it? It popped up on my radar only last week when I was searching YouTube, and I put it on back-burner. Curious if I should push it forward? Yeah, I remember that Flashpoint was being brought up in the old RoboCop (1987) thread back in 2017, and then I guess mostly because of Kurtwood Smith's contribution, whom did a pretty solid job as a bad guy here, of course not anywhere as "colorful" or brutal as Clarence Boddicker, but creepy, I guess. However, the film felt a bit too "slow", I do not mind that kind of entertainment, but somehow the atmosphere and story has to be at least a bit more "punchier", and I thought Flashpoint had the potential and talents involved, but somehow it (think it was a HBO tv-movie) felt very hasty produced, and there was never a moment where it seemed like anything above a 5/10 (which was what I ended up with). All in all, Kris Kristofersen, Treat Williams and Kurtwood Smith all delivers, but the story sadly was not strong enough too keep my interest up, all the way, and a bi disappointed by the rather dull and forgettable score done by Tangerine Dream. So, yeah, not my kind of movie, but did not expect too much from it, and since it was just lying around free on the net, I cannot complain too much.

Top Knot Detective (2017)
A rather entertaining mockumentary following the behind the scenes of a fictional Japanese samurai TV series, which became a popular cult hit in the early 90s. Going by the clips I saw throughout, made me wish this outlandish show, along with its spin-off/incarnations existed.

The last action movie I watched was Jurassic World 2015. I liked it as well as the first JP movie and more than the second two. I liked the interaction between Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who, BTW is daughter of Ron Howard.
I also watch Rampage about once a month. For some reason it never gets boring watching an ape, wolf and "alligator" tear up Chicago.
