Those who sent death threats to Rian Johnson over a Star Wars movie. If a movie triggers you that much, maybe movies are not your thing. Still keeping with Disney, the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans seem far less problematic. Also, Ghostbusters fan seems pretty cool. On Netflix, there is a feature length documentary dedicated to them.

Star Wars fans seem the most vocal for better or worse. Trekkies in second place.

When I read "Fan base", Nolanites are the first that come up to my mind.

Any assholes who send death threats to people are the worst. Like the Nolan fans who gave threats to critics who did not like TDKR.

Indiana Jones fans seem pretty cool. Even with the mistakes made in Crystal Skull I don't remember a lot of hostile threats made against Spielberg/Lucas...

I called Star Wars fans the worst months before TLJ came out in a similar thread. Now that the film has been released, that answer is reaffirmed for me tenfold. "People who don't look like me have major characters now! Wah!" "TFA is a remake of ANH so it sucks! TLJ changed up the formula so it also sucks!" "Luke didn't act how I thought he would after 30 years so it's out of character!" What a toxic, pissy bunch.
For best, maybe Star Trek? Despite stereotypes, I've rarely encountered any crazies. But mainly I pick them because fans have actually accomplished things because of their fanhood. Scientific advancements, the first black woman in space was inspired by Uhura, etc.

The Nolanites are the worst.
Based on my experience, Trekkies and Potterheads are generally nice.

After reading the comments... those with the death threats sound pretty bad as, like mentioned, it's just a movie at the end of the day.
but I would imagine that for the most part if your movies are too popular amongst the young crowds that's probably a decent recipe for people to act up since it's generally young people who act up the most in general on society who rebel against any authority etc.
p.s. also, I never understand those who obsess over directors like Nolan because I have yet to find a director who's made 5-10 movies who's got a spotless record with me especially in terms of their movies being good enough to be called a favorite which is ultimately what separates the gems from 'everything else' pretty much. for the record... Nolan only has one gem if you ask me which is The Prestige (2006) (8/10 ; within my Top 56 movies).

The bigger the fan base, the worse they're going to appear. So of course the answer is Star Wars. Every film and franchise has its share of malcontents and nut jobs who will complain about anything, and it's going to seem crazier when there are simply more of them. Personally I hated The Last Jedi, but death threats?
The problem starts with labeling a fan base, because it reinforces this idea that you're 'choosing a side;' you're identifying as some part of a culture that revolves around someone else's IP. I like most of Nolan's films. I'm not a Nolanite. I like Star Trek. I'm not a trekkie. Likewise I can't stand Avatar or Transformers movies but I don't label myself a hater or whatever. I have likes and dislikes, same as anyone. But nobody should let fandom define them to the point that it creates obsessive behavior or negative energy that can't be contained or controlled.

Star Wars, Marvel and DC all pop into mind for worst fanbases.

Best: Tough choice. There’s always gonna be those sour fans that go by the majority of what people say about a specific movie or a fact of that movie (ie. a character, a plot point, etc.). But I think the nicest fanbase would probably be the Child’s Play franchise.
Worst: DC Extended Universe. Suicide Squad anyone?

Any fan base that threatens violence on critics who happen to disrupt stupid Rotten Tomatoes scores are the winners at being the worst.

Rocky Horror fans are the most obnoxious. I kind of like Disney fans.

Star Wars is just as bad. The amount of tweets I saw wishing death on Rian Johnson was baffling.
