It started out as a regular animated sitcom not aimed specifically at kids, but then became much more silly and kiddish when they changed sponsors from Winston cigarettes to Welch's grape juice and added Pebbles, Bam Bam, etc. Still, it's the freaking Flinstones, so it gets a 9.

It was/is based on 'The Honeymooners', but set in a modern stone-age.

8/10. I loved this show as a kid, even the guest stars (especially the Way-Outs and the Beau Brummelstones). They lose a couple of points, however, for the episodes featuring "The Great Gazoo." Even as a child I thought this was a crummy idea.

Adult reboot in the works.
A primetime animated adult comedy series continuing the story of the Stone Age family, Bedrock catches up with the Flintstone family two decades later, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club
You know you're in television-land when a concept described as 'adult' invariably comes out sounding like 'stupid'.

There was a Flintstones comic series made a few years back. Hadn't read it but I wonder what it's like if this gem is included:
It's 'irony' of this sort that makes you wish a comet would wipe out all the millenials... From what I heard, this conversation actually ties in with Bam-Bam's origin story in the comic (Bedrock is tricked into war and Bam-Bam's the sole survivor of his tribe or whatever so Barney adopts him). The concept of a caveman war does kind of intrigue my neanderthal brain.

Everything about the new versions sounds awful. Agreed! It was a few years ago that Seth McFarlane (Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, American Dad!) was going to revamp the show. I was a little bit leery about this. The original series was perfect. Luckily, the plans were to scrapped to revamp it. As for me, no-brainer - 10/10. Back in the day (early to mid 80s), one of the local TV stations aired the show at noon. I raced home from school at lunchtime - just to watch the show. That station aired the "Christmas Flintstone" episode EVERY Christmas Eve. So, I would be sure not to miss it! PLUS, when it was announced that season 1 would be released on DVD, I was ecstatic! In fact, the day of its released, in our area, there was a HUGE snowstorm. Still - I trudged my way to Best Buy to get the series. Heck, a snowstorm wouldn't keep me from "The Flintstones"! Does anybody agree with the theory some people have, that The Flintstones was actually set to a post-apocalyptic future, and not the past ?

Joker's Wilde At one time, The Flinstones had been translated into more languages than any other tv show. That was around the early 90s I think. No doubt that has changed, but the show had incredible popularity with cultures around the world.
