I'm talking actors who've only had minor roles and were relatively unknown till they landed their MCU roles and all of a sudden got a huge boost in their career. So actors like RDJ, Chris Evans, Scarjo, Jeremy Renner, etc. are not included. I'm talking about actors like Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chadwick Boseman, Dave Bautista, Tom Hollan, etc.
Who has been the biggest breakout star among them?

Gotta be Hemsworth or Hiddleston. Both have headlined films since achieving MCU stardom. Maybe a tier below them are Hayley Atwell and Jamie Alexander. Both are career character actors who have headlined their own tv series since achieving MCU stardom.

Definitely Tom Hiddleston.

Hiddleston's been able to branch out beyond Loki and won a Golden Globe for his efforts, safe to say he's not going to have to worry about typecasting.

Andy Serkis. Since Black Panther he's been in LOADS of major movies like Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit, Planet of the Apes Reboot, King Kong. The list goes on and on!

Chris Pratt seems like the answer. He was the fat guy on Parks and Rec before Star Lord. He got popular so fast it ruined his marriage!
But I wouldn't discount RDJ either. He wasn't setting the world on fire when he got the Iron Man role. In fact, he had to fight to get the job. Now he's a legend and it's really due to being Tony Stark.

Well I didn't want to include actors who've been in a slump and suddenly got a bump up from their MCU role (like RDJ). I'll make a separate thread for that. I was trying to limit this thread specifically to actors fairly new in their career or ones whose careers were very low key prior to landing their MCU roles.

More safe to say that Iron Man revived his career. He was already an Oscar Nominated Actor before Iron Man, but since then he's gotten his second Nom and won a Golden Globe for Sherlock Holmes...but didn't he also have awards for his time on Ally McBeal too?

Boseman was the star of movies like "Get On Up" (James Brown biopic) and "42" (Jackie Robinson biopic).

Yeah, I'm thinking Pratt is at the top. Hemsworth and Hiddleston would not be that far behind, but Pratt just blew past them.

I wouldn't say Chris Pratt because he was cast for Jurassic World before Guardians of the Galaxy even came out and was a success and considering Jurassic World was over a twice as successful, then he would have been a breakout star for that anyway.

I would make the case there was no "slump" for RDJ. He was never a big star before IM. He was known in the business and had a rep as a good actor but was never a big star. Iron Man made him into a star. Check out his filmography before and after Iron Man. The difference is....pardon...."stark". It's like night and day. After IM his career took off like never before.

Well he wasn't a big celebrity but he certainly wasn't an unknown either. He's kinda like Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo. Not big stars but have been around for some time.

What do you mean? You don't get popular by being cast in a movie, but starring in one where millions of people see you. Guardians of the Galaxy came out in 2014, Jurassic World in 2015.

I used to brag about how great he was and got blank stares most of the time. "You know...the guy from Less than Zero and Chaplin!" (more blank stares) It would be like Ruffalo turning into a huge star after playing the Hulk. Pretty drastic step up.

Tom Hiddleston. I saw Hemsworth before in Star Trek, but Thor was literally the first time I saw or heard of Hiddleston.
