Probably wishful thinking, and the Oscars, as usual, being a bunch of snobs wouldn't ever consider it because they can't recognize a good piece of film unless it's a generic and cliche period piece. I thought Millicent Simmonds gave an amazing performance,... for a DEAF actress in A Quiet Place. As someone with a mild hearing loss myself and wears hearing aids sometimes and knows some sign language, I can appreciate a film when it does something and is committed to it that I can somewhat relate to on a personal level, and I know Simmonds performed the whole thing through sign language and even taught the entire cast. Acting is more than just speaking words, and Simmonds gave a powerful performance without words and I think it warrants some kind of Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. But as usual, the Oscars would never do that.

It'd be pretty cool if it happened.

While she is good in the movie I don't think it is an award worthy performance.
Just my opinion.
