I am only because my sister recommended it.
It is okay. Better than normal TV. The acting and writing is better than normal. The dialog is smart. Intelligent normal people speak. Not TV people speak. I am only on season one, episode ten. But so far, the main storyline is interesting. What could be done about a criminal who can make anybody do whatever he wants (mind control)? Including a whole police department.
The Carrie-Ann Moss character is the weakest part of the show. It is cliche and obvious. I believe most viewers recognized her role from the very beginning. Her acting is not good. The character is obvious to everyone except annoyingly every other character in the show. And wow, Carrie-Ann Moss looked good in The Matrix. But her hips have really gotten wide.
Jessica Jones comes across as a very sloppy superhero. Whose sloppiness continues to further the conflict unnecessarily. She is another dark superhero with personal problems. The main actress (Krysten Ritter) is good looking. But she could really use powdering her nose. It sometimes seems as if I am watching Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer. I guess it is more realistic than having actors seem like they just stepped out of the makeup chair. But come on.
But most of the acting is good. And the writing is imaginative most of the time. Still better than most TV.
If you are watching, please share your thoughts and feelings. Thanks.

SPOILERS !!!
Episode 10 Season 1 ends with the main villain instructing a group of bar patrons to hang themselves and a girl to stab herself in the neck. Immediately after he flees the scene.
What does Jessica Jones do? Instead of legally killing him and ending the mayhem, she saves the bar patrons (no argument there) and wraps a napkin around the neck of the stabbed girl who dies in her arms.
Meanwhile, the villain is getting away "AGAIN" to continue to hurt and kill people. If she had just killed him, it would all be over. Instead, episode 11, season 1 begins with her still holding the dead girl and having a flashback. While the villain is again getting away.
SPOILERS !!!
I am still watching it because otherwise it is still good. But this is an example of her sloppiness allowing the conflict to continue unnecessarily.

I watched the season.
Strangely enough, I may have enjoyed it more than the first which I only liked for the villain.
This one I liked for largely having no real villain.

Simpson wore out his welcome episodes ago. He should have been gone. I cannot believe a character like Trish would keep giving him another chance.
The only reason Kilgrave is still around is because Jessica won't kill him. The only reason Simpson keeps screwing things up is because Trish won't get rid of him. The only reason Hogarth keeps sabotaging things is because Jessica keeps involving her.
These chicks are their own worst enemies.

I just finished the first season. I hope the second season is better. Because in spite of good acting and good dialogue, the first season seemed to be about two bumbling women who were their own worst enemies. It was almost comical.
As far as the acting goes, I thought Krysten Ritter and Rachel Taylor were good. But I thought Colby Minifee stole the show in every scene she was in. In my opinion, she had the strongest performance. And she was only a supporting character.
(Colby Minifee - Robyn from upstairs, crazy neighbor, brother was forced to commit suicide by Kilgrave. I thought she had the best performance. Her character was purposely written as annoying and unlikable. But I thought she stole every scene she was in.)

Yeah, I was actually upset with the reviews of this show saying how it was empowering to women when I thought the portrayal of women were pretty bad. If one wants strong female roles in their superhero movie, the best option remains Supergirl . Still, the second season is far more empowering and while jessica is still very much an alcoholic, she is not a scared, subservient alcoholic.

I actually think Carrie Anne Moss is my favorite character. Oh well. I love the show, but Daredevil is definitely better.

I actually think Carrie Anne Moss is my favorite character. Oh well. I love the show, but Daredevil is definitely better. Funny you should say that. Because I thought Carrie Anne Moss had the worst acting job. And I hated her character --- immoral, unethical lawyer, obsessed with winning --- cliche and boring. And as good as she looked in The Matrix. Her hips have really gotten wide. She was another tool misused by Jessica Jones. I felt it was obvious to the audience what Hogarth (Moss's character) was about. But ridiculous that none of the other characters on the show could see it. For example, I knew as soon as she was invited to show up at the hermetically sealed holding container, she was going to let Kilgrave go. And no surprise, she did. Everytime Jones called her, I couldn't help but feel, "Why are you calling her? She is obviously only going to make trouble for you and your mission." And no surprise, she did. I was actually surprised at the end of season one when she got Jones off. The only time in the whole season she ever did anything good for anybody but herself.

Still, the second season is far more empowering and while jessica is still very much an alcoholic, she is not a scared, subservient alcoholic. Apparently, this is a recurring theme in movies and TV. Another poster on another board said he was forced to watch Grey's Anatomy. He was surprised how the women were portrayed on that show. And women viewers were not objecting. It seemed like the characters were almost unable to do their jobs because they were always giving more attention to their feelings and petty disagreements, than doing their jobs. I just finished watching Star Trek Discovery. It is like a soap opera in outer space. Women are given major roles. But once again, they spend so much time and attention on feelings and petty disagreements. There are actually times when characters say they can't perform their jobs because they are too upset at the moment. And they are allowed to pass on the mission and somebody else is forced to take their places. Seems condescending to women. I think it shows them as weak and unable. Seems women's groups would be objecting to such portrayals.

I'm three episodes away from the end of season 2. It's odd because I can't say I love the series but I still feel compelled to find out how Jessica will get herself out of each messy situation. Was very glad to see the end of Kilgrave. I'll take David Tennant in Dr. Who instead.

I watched season 1 and though I liked it, I can't say I was all that interested in seeing more. I'm gonna be trying Netflix soon so I might check that out.

Daredevil - is that a movie or a TV show? Wait, you're serious? JESSICA JONES is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which consists of 11 shows and 19 movies. However, the Netflix shows are a little disconnected from the rest of the franchise. That means that you can't start JESSICA JONES' 2nd season until you've seen the other Netflix shows.

I watched the pilot episode but it was so boring and crappy that I didn't watch anymore after that. Jessica Jones is 1 of the most boring TV shows ever made. Watching paint dry is more entertaining than watching an episode of Jessica Jones.

Watching paint dry is more entertaining than watching an episode of Jessica Jones. You said this before. No one cares. Also, we know you watched all of Jessica Jones and thoroughly enjoyed it, because you're an MCU fan and enjoy negative attention from trolling more than you enjoy agreeing with people. btw what were you doing Monday April 9th, 11:43 A.M.? Your 'driving home with dinner' alibi was for the wrong time. Wikipedia time stamps are UTC 0, and you're on UTC-8.
