...six movies instead of a trilogy?
While I'm happy with the movies we have now, I do feel they were much better received and arguably much better films if Lucas spread out the story in six movies instead of three. Episode II should have took place only 5 years after the events of The Phantom Menace and Jake Lloyd return as Anakin Skywalker. This film should have also introduced Count Dooku into the story and we could have gotten to see the strong friendship Obi-Wan and Anakin developed together after the death of Qui-Gon and show Obi-Wan being very impressed with his amazing skills at a really young age.
Attack of the Clones should have came out in 2005 and been Episode III. Episode IV should have came out in 2008 and it would take place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith and should have basically been what the 2008 Clone Wars series was. Then Revenge of the Sith should have been split into two movies and have the first half come out in 2011 and the second half come out in 2014.
Oh what could have been...

Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino
Done entirely with puppets like Team America: World Police

I think the prequels would have been better as a 6 film series as well as having a different producer and director(s). Too many key plot points were just rushed though. Of course, the midichlorian issue is still a sore subject with me.
There is so much that could have been done with the Trade Federation for instance. The whole intrigue with the Senate and the Trade Federation could have been a stand alone movie in my opinion.
One of the better parts of Phantom Menace

Should've began with Anakin as a teen, same as Luke. Or at least made him a quiet introvert as suggested in the first teaser trailer. Instead we got little orphan Ani & his jarring energy.
Near mute Ani succeeding in the pod race would've been the nice stepping off point to discovering who he really is. Instead of him walkin' around bragging about nonsense.

I think 3 was a good number. They just should've shown the beginning of his turn to the dark side in the 1st movie and develop it during the other 2.

Nope.
One of the biggest PROBLEMS with the prequel trilogy is that there was only 1 1/2 movies worth of plot stretched out to three.

Well having someone else do the writing and directing instead of Lucas would have been a start.
