Color is relevant. You called him a "brother", in the US that means black. What happened to his white heritage? Does the black part of him supersede the white part? What race he is or isn't has no bearing on his chance that he will land a job. The quality of a quarterback he is does. I bet, if a sportsman in America decided to raise awareness to whale fishing or cruelty to dogs, and knelt during the anthem, you guys wouldn't have had the half the problem with him as you do with Colin Kaepernick. Is it because you care more about dogs than you do black people? That's B.S. "You People" you're referring to care about America. I don't care what cause you're kneeling during the Anthem for, it's disrespectful and it's nothing do with the 'cause' you're kneeling for. You're basically saying "I'm not going to stand up in reverence for the nation that provides me with freedom. The men and women who actually sacrificed their lives to protect it, the values of our constitution." That's why Cap was doing, he was spitting in the faces of our forefathers.

Well I find it very hard to believe you would have had conservatives appearing on news shows and the like, losing their shit over Kaepernick, if he'd either been campaigning about something they care very little about (like dogs, i.e because dogs aren't really a conservative issue) or something they are in favour of, like, more guns.

The men and women who actually sacrificed their lives to protect this country did so, specifically in part, so people like Kaepernick can express their opinions in a peaceful manner. People are rightfully criticizing the violent protests in the streets (as they should be) by saying "this isn't how you protest," but then they turn around and criticize the Hamilton cast. They criticize celebrities not because of what they say, but because they are celebrities. They criticize Kaepernick because he didn't stand up. Well, that's what a protest is. It's not disrespectful to stand up (such as it is here) for what one believes in, especially when done in a peaceful way. It's actually part of the very bedrock of the constitution upon which this country is based. You can criticize what Kaep is saying, but instead you're choosing to criticize his means of saying it. He didn't set something on fire, he didn't throw rocks at policemen, he didn't overturn a car, he didn't stop traffic. He knelt down. And everyone who criticizes him says he did something disrespectful. I can't wrap my head around it.

I think you're missing the point. - People are mad when white guys at a baseball game don't take off their caps during the anthem. - People get mad at white kids who talk during the National Anthem Thats the culture 'we' are coming from. Maybe you don't live in this culture of Patriotism, but I do, and I understand the anger and where people are coming from. It has nothing to do with race, ethnicity, religion, creed, etc... It's the individual who is disrespecting the flag and anthem.

The minute he wants to switch teams and keep a job as an NFL QB he states he will stand for the anthem next season in hopes to salvage a job.

Klaw is right about Kaepernick, there is nothing disrespectful about what he did. He has a reason to be upset, the police are allowed to routinely violate people's rights, abuse them and sometimes kill them and 99 times out of 100 they aren't punished, in fact they are usually given a free vacation. The people who support blindly worshipping symbolism are stupid, human rights and liberties are more important than a goddamn symbol, in this case the flag. Kaepernick's protest wasn't violent, it didn't harm anyone, and it didn't break any laws. Anyone who gets more offended over someone kneeling for an anthem than over the police killing innocent citizens at a traffic stop has issues.
The whole taking so much offense over Kap exercising his right to free speech proves one thing : that conservatives hate the Constitution and hate free speech, and support blindly worshipping all things police, military and government and attacking anyone who doesn't. Being a true patriot means exercising your right to free speech and standing up for freedom, not blindly worshipping symbols.
Kaepernick should definitely be signed by some team, if he doesn't, it just shows that America isn't a democracy and that free speech is under a grave attack by conservatives.

I had turtle soup once at Commander's Palace in New Orleans. It was too salty. I prefer snake soup. I also like eating cow tongue and cow brain.
