And which precautions would you have taken? And mind you that any precautions you talk about now will be will be seen as being taken with full hindsight awareness, by the way...
Uh, like take him into space or literally almost anywhere that isn't a highly populated area. Do you know how much of this planet is oceans? And that hindsight stuff is nonsense, they'd been destroying the city for a while. The next time you get into a fight with a guy that is stronger and a better fighter than you I want you to grab a hold of him, IF he just LETS you, and take him to the ocean. I'm sure you two will have fun. He can finish kicking your ass while you're trying to take him to the ocean.
And the hindsight stuff is not nonsense. You STILL cant see. Yes. THEY'D been destroying the city for a while... the BAD GUYS were, before Supes showed up to fight Zod. Duh.

I mostly just don’t get the complaints about how he’s supposedly some kind of psychopath who destroys cities and doesn’t save people. Apart from the fact that he saved the entire planet in MoS, it was also shown that he regularly saved people’s lives prior to becoming Superman. That’s how Lois was able to find him. He even explicitly took his fight with Doomsday into space in order to avoid collateral damage.
And as for killing Zod... Zod said so himself... he was never going to stop. Ordinarily I say imprison the criminal and give him his due process, of course. But how do you imprison Zod? There was no more Phantom Zone and no earth bound jail could hold him.
My complain about Superman killing Zod in Man of Steel is the execution rather than the action itself. Countless people killed by Zod and Superman decides that he has to kill him when four people in that station are about to be killed? Either kill him the first minute of the fight or not kill him at all. I like Man of Steel but there are some issues with the film particularly in the third act.

Actually Zod was weaker, he couldn't handle the hearing power, the film just conveniently forgot that.

But we know that Supermans not a killer, so that would not happen. That's why it so a shocker when he DOES kill Zod. he needed to be pushed to it.
