Why? Because it proves that DC is willing to make a popular children’s cartoon character into a prostitute, so it means that DC actually takes risks and knows that this is a good choice since it’s not for a younger audience.
Hee hee hee...

Starfire's outfit has never been too far from prostitute anyways.
Besides, she wasn't always a children's cartoon character.

I don’t even understand the joke here. Poking fun at the 'adult and gritty makes it good no matter what' argument perhaps?

What about the fact that she sleeps around a lot? And that has to do with what? It would kind of suggest that she doesn’t really have all the modesty of a children’s cartoon character, doesn’t it?

So does Tony Stark, Eros, Mystique, Wolverine, and a host of others. Starfire has been defined by sleeping around. The image from the animated series of her being this cutesy, naive alien girl, isn’t how she usually is portrayed as. I don’t like what I’ve seen from the way she looks in the live action show, but it has nothing to do with them taking an innocent cartoon character, and making it “edgy”. It just looks like a really cheap costume.

The OP seems to be under the impression that Starfire is some squeaky clean kid’s character, when she really isn’t. Her costume in the live action show isn’t some attempt to make the character more “edgy”. That was what this has to do with anything.

You really think they are going to go into that side of the character? They are most likely going to pair her up with Grayson in the series.

How is it an attempt at anything? By being less skimpy than her costume in the comics? Plus, the actress who plays Starfire has even claimed that the set photo won’t be an accurate representation of how she’ll look on the show.

Dressing "skimpy", as you call, it is not what the character is doing. She doesn't see it as dressing skimpy. The only thing she will most likely not have is the fur coat because she did say that it is cold out. The dress and boots is what she will be wearing. That is not the real problem. It's pretty much how they do a lot of comic characters when they don't want them to wear a "costume" . Giving her the color of what the comic character wears. Clark wearing a blue shirt with red jacket on Smallville to look like Superman. Or giving Nightcrawler a Thriller jacket because it looks like his comics costume. No, the real problem is that friggin wig. Why didn't they just brown up how she normally keeps her hair? Why is her hair pink? Her hair is meant to look more like fire. Look at mock ups of the Anna as Starfire. None of them went in the direction that the did for this show. Nah, this is how she is going to look in the show. And if this is not a an accurate representation of how she is going to look, then DC has a real publicity problem. When stuff like this gets out they need to start getting the real look out there instead of letting the backlash hurt them. They just went through the same thing with Shazam and just let more get out instead of helping the situation.
