What kind of meat do you put in a cheesesteak anyway? I want to make the BHCE tomorrow but I'm not sure what to get. Can I just get some kind of boar's head lunch meat like top round or London broil and throw it in a pan? I'm guessing that would be frowned upon but if I have to actually buy steak and cook it myself I fear the whole project will be called off.

You have probably gone out for lunch by now but in any case, I would recommend something from the deli rather than the freezer. London broil seems like a good choice.

This is the Almazan Kitchen version of making a cheese steak (they use beef tenderloin). Almazan Kitchen is one of my favorite YouTube cooking sites. Two gentlemen, from Serbia, do all of their presentations in a local forest setting. They take a hiatus during the depth of winter, but they pick-up, again, when the snow about to melt away, and continue through the spring, summer and fall. I've never had a cheese steak, but I'd love to try this one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=knDlaau6UOU

I didn't realize this but apparently ribeye is a standard choice for a high end cheese steak. Put it in the freezer for 30 mins to harden it up a little, slice it thin and you're on your way to success.

...find a joint that specializes in "Philly cheese steak" sammiches, try one, and judge for yourself.
IMHO, they are an acquired taste...
