I heard the sad news and it is disappointing. I don't understand why there weren't any other 'Evil Dead' movies after 'Army of Darkness' 'cause it was a very popular Horror franchise and a lot of other Horror franchises that weren't half as popular got multiple sequels. It was good he brought it back as a TV show but to me it felt like a wasted opportunity not making more movies in the 90s and 00s 'cause they could have easily had 5 or 6 movies out.

With horror films, sequels usually go on forever, so the lack of Evil Dead movies is surprising. What is even more so is Bruce's decision to retire. IIRC he said that if Ash vs Evil Dead were to be cancelled, he'd continue the story in a movie.

IIRC he said that if Ash vs Evil Dead were to be cancelled, he'd continue the story in a movie. Yeah. You are right. I remember Bruce saying that a few months ago in an interview and I don't see why he couldn't make another 'Evil Dead' movie just 'cause the show got cancelled but maybe he thinks the studios will be less likely to make one now the show has been cancelled so he is giving up on it. It is a shame 'cause Ash was arguably his most popular role and a lot of people love the movies. I would still love to see Ash in a movie with Freddy and Jason or a 'Hack/Slash/ Evil Dead' team up movie with Ash fighting side by side with Cassie Hack like the comic book series. I think the lack of 'Evil Dead' movies may have had something to do with Bruce wanting to make it famous in other genres so he stopped doing them but if that was the case I think it was a mistake.

He's done very well for himself, better than quite a few A-listers in fact. It's actually always confused me why he never reached the heights of say, Kurt Russell or Brendan Fraser.

This is almost as bad as the Beatles breaking up.
