In the late 1970's the group TOTO came out with a song called '99'. Can someone tell me who or what 99 is/are?

Toto keyboard player David Paich wrote this song, which he explained is inspired by the 1971 movie THX-1138, which was the first full-length film directed by George Lucas of Star Wars fame. Writes Paich: "This movie is set in the 25th-century in a totalitarian state where mankind is stripped of any individuality. People are numbered drones, and a government-enforced program of sedation controls the populace. Lucas used THX as the name for his movie theater sound system."

I saw this and then saw it elsewhere which confirmed it's accuracy. 99 does refer to the numbered drones. Thanks again.

on youtube it says "a song inspired by the George Lucas movie THX-1138 about a society where people were given numbers instead of names". So 99 would probably the "name" of some guy. Why "99" instead of 88 or 77? No clue.
