Open to debate of course what exactly makes one the poor man's anything but now and then you see people called the poor man's etc..
Tim Thomerson has been called the poor man's Harrison Ford.
I once said
Kenneth McMillan -- the poor man's Charles Durning.
James Olson -- the poor man's Jon Voight
Any others come to mind?

Silent comedian Harry Langdon has been called the poor man's Charlie Chaplin, but I don't agree with that.
Much as I liked character actor James Gregory, I do kind of agree he was the poor man's Joseph Cotten.

In Moonshine County Express there is no question John Saxon was being hired as a poor man's Burt Reynolds. But he did not have a mustache so maybe he refused to be that much of a Reynolds' clone.
And in Battle Beyond the Stars I think he was meant to be a poor man's Darth Vader/Tarkin.

I remember on the old IMDB board somebody calling Ida Lupino the poor man`s Bette Davis That's so unfair. In one film she was a socially dysfunctional hillbilly. Did Bette Davis show that much range?

Guess the actor (I forgot) that I ONCE referred to on IMDb back in the day as the poor man's John Wayne? More for his looks than for having similar roles.

Much as I liked character actor James Gregory, I do kind of agree he was the poor man's Joseph Cotten. James Gregory is ALMOST a DEAD-RINGER for one of the actors/characters on the old 'My Favorite Martian' series. NO, NOT either Bill Bixby OR Ray Walston.

I FOUND-OUT who it was. I remembered he was on an episode of either 'The Alfred Hitchcock Hour' OR 'Thriller'. Turned out to be 'Thriller'. His initials are/were (he's now and has been since shortly after the episode) JC. He DIED less than two years and a month afterwards.
