In MoS, Martha Kent (a normal human with no superpowers) wasn't afraid to stand up to a super-powered Kryptonian general. Hulk takes a beating from Thanos and suddenly Hulk turns into a 1000-pound coward and is too scared to show up for the rest of the movie.

So that Banner could step up and take control to fight the good fight. Their ever-changing dynamic is awesome.

Really? I haven't seen it yet but this is disappointing to hear. Was he really neutered? That sucks. Yeah he got the green stomped out of him. After that kind of beating I wouldn't want to come out either.

Not a bad question actually.
He's got the mentality of a 5 year old so that's gotta be a factor.

This is in Hulk's character. He has always had a toddler type mentality. Thanos truly scared him. I think that he will get his revenge.

Hulk smash. Puny god. Being out for 2 yrs in Ragnarok allowed him more maturity, but he is around 4-5 yrs old mentally. Thanos frightened that child Hulk I suspect we will see him next movie. Maybe seeing his rival Thor fighting will bring him out.

It's a set up fr them to work together cooperatively.
In Ragnarok, Hulk wouldn't let Banner come back and he likely doesn't want to give control back.
He will be back to normal by the end of 4.
I must say I do like the way they made Banner more lighthearted. It suits the actor better.

I think Thanos might do something to Black Widow in front of Banner and Hulk comes out angry.

He's never a coward, but after his incredibly courageous and brave attack on Surtur at the end of Thor: Ragnorock, he's become more cautious and realistic about his limits

Banner wasn't though. He was up for the fight and entered a battle, albeit in the Hulkbuster

Hulk is more cowardly than the cowardly lion!

He was not a child originally, more like a Mr Hyde in the comics. And in the 2008 film I dont think he acted like a kid.
But they downplayed his savageness in the later movies.
In the comic he wouldnt have run away like a little kid, he would be moody but fight if he was being threatened.

Problem here is you're using a DC character as a good example when DC films are utterly terrible at depicting human beings.
