I hate that the plague of modern politics and correctness has creeped so far into the body of Hollywood movie making that it is now an infectious disease with no known cure. Hate it. Agree. People complaining just because there's no flag-planting scene is tiresome.

Just because there is not a shot of the flag being put up on the moon, do you think any viewers will for even one second forget it was americans that made it to the moon first?
is it somehow lessening their achievment?
is it somehow allowing the viewer think it was a non american success because of it?
more than the absence of the shot in the movie wouldn it be I dunno... the fact there was a german (who was also a former nazi) running nasa at the time? Or the fact the first 3 people on on/near moon were all of fairly recent (like 2nd gen) European origin? or the fact that it was all the russian pressure that really helped the US speed things up? not to mention all the non us workers of nasa un the appollo times...https://history.nasa.gov/SP-4104.pdf
Now I am Not saying it was not American achievement.
I am just asking if an omitted shot of the flag makes it less an american achievement than the things i mentioned above.
Btw I am a big space exploration nerd and an avid NASA fan and collector and I would never want to take this away from the americans but I am excited to see this movie flag or no flag and dont see it as such a big deal. Because like I said, nobody will forget it was an american endeavour.
But the benefit of it stays with the entire human kind. and i think thats what they meant.

I heard they decided to shoot this scene and put it in the film after all, but they're gonna have Buzz Aldrin kneel while it's planted. We just can't win!

Really? So will slavery also be a human shame as opposed to a national one? How about Hitler's atrocities? You ready to take your share of blame for that since, you know, you and he are both humans and what not? Way to go fatass5. Trying to wipe out all the Jews was not cool bro. Good god, you are so fucking stupid and batshit crazy that you can't even make a logical link from one thought to another. It's like your entire brain is one rabid right wing random sentence generator. Wipe the foam off your mouth and have a cookie or something. You're an angry little hypocrite, huh? You're the one who thinks humankind should claim credit for all achievements so logic dictates that humankind share the shame for the bad stuff as well. I know you're a liberal caricature that just posts whatever all the other white lib caricatures have already posted but you should try to actually think some of your nonsense through occasionally. Next time you feel triggered hide in your safe space for a while instead of rushing to spew vitriol.

You're the one who thinks humankind should claim credit for all achievements so logic dictates that humankind share the shame for the bad stuff as well. Which effectively makes both claims utterly and completely meaningless, brainless dipshit.
When Armstrong stepped off the lander, did he say "One small step for a man, one giant step for America?". No, he did not. The film reflects the humanism behind what he actually said. Idiots like you just don't get it.

More angry name calling from the silly white lib. You fellas really get triggered when someone points out how ridiculous you are. You seem to especially hate it when us swarthy types call you on your bullshit. Why is that? I seriously would like an answer. I've had more than a few white liberals tell me I needed to be more appreciative of what y'all have done for us non whites. Is that how you feel or is there some other reason you're so angry?

Your failure to actually address my points and the points of the filmmakers---as well as the author of the book the movie is based on and the comments of Armstrong's relatives, all saying what I'm saying--is duly noted.
And excuse me, shit for brains, but if you want to talk about people being triggered, why don't you start with the right wing nutjobs who went berserk because they couldn't jack off to the sight of a flag being planted? You people are the ultimate special snowflakes.

It's hilarious to me that the movie went out of its way to avoid politics and that action in itself has become politicized. This is just where we are now.

As Deep Throat said, follow the money.
One of the production companies is "Perfect World Pictures," a Chinese firm.
Much of what is going on now in Hollywood is done to appease the Chinese government so the films can be shown there. It's the new cash cow. Think a billion Red Chinese want to see the American flag getting planted? Especially now that the Chinese have their own manned space mission to the moon planned?
