On Sunday, October 7, and Tuesday, October 9, certain theater chains will be showing Bullitt at 2:00 and 7:00 to commemorate the film's fiftieth anniversary—so check your local listings. As I wrote in the following thread last year, comparing Bullitt (1968) and Dirty Harry (1971) makes for a fascinating way to understand how American society evolved in that short period of time. And for similar reasons, Bullitt is also an important film in the development of the modern cop genre, to say nothing of it probably constituting Steve McQueen's most iconic role while featuring one of the most iconic car chases in cinematic history. link
