My Blue Heaven (1990) (DVD)
I really enjoy this crime/comedy starring Steve Martin and Rick Moranis, however I was just wondering if your DVD copy comes with subtitles (english) as mine (got it a few years back) said that it was closed-captioned (english) but nothing happened and while it did not take away the fun of the movie, I kind of hate when stuff like that happens, same with my Captain Ron DVD. It actually have close-captions for a few seconds, then for the rest of the film it just disappears out of the blue.

Society (1989) - DVD I do own an older DVD copy but it has no subtitles or any extras included and when I stumbled upon Arrow's 2017 version, I just had to pick it up. A great and somehow slightly overlooked/forgotten splatter/horror gem by Brian Yuzna, one that surely is a must see for fans of horror comedies not that far off what Peter Jackson made during his earlier days and of course the Stuart Gordon cult-classic Re-Animator (1985). Loved that this new DVD came with a reversible artwork as the new one and the one from my old copy looked rather poor and thankfully the original one is one the inside cover, and that is almost alone worth the chase.
The Stuff (1985) - DVD Another enjoyable and very cool sci-fi/horror b-movie from the 80s and which I have always enjoyed but never found one that features any subtitles, and now again Arrow have released a new one which provides that and much more. Sadly their reversible artwork look like crap and I will stick with my old Anchor Bay DVD copy which have a far superior poster/cover art.
Ghost Story (1981) - DVD I really enjoyed watching this for the first time late at night on TV back in winter of 2009. Not a fantastic film but surely an entertaining and well made little chiller which I again already own a region 1 DVD version of, but I decided to do a little double-dipping by picking up this 2015 region 2 copy as well, just in case.
Automata (2014) - DVD Impulse buy. Looks like a sci-fi/thriller or something, starring Antonio Banderas. Not been too impressed by his latest work, but last years action surprise Security (2017) turned out to be a big improvement and I will go in with a little bit more positive touch this time.
Nuns On The Run (1990) - DVD Another Arrow release, this time a version from 2016. Always wanted to see this one as it looks and sounds like a lot of fun, and hopefully it is.
In A Lonely Place (1950) - DVD Thought I had to upgrade a bit on my rather tidy/small film-noir/classic movie section, and found this one lying for the price of literally absolutely nothing.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017) - DVD Never been much of a fan of Ryan Gosling, but I love the original movie and since the film was cut down with almost 70% in price reduction, I thought that it was probably not a bad deal. I will try and go in, ignoring all the raving reviews, as I usually end up being very disappointed so hopefully it might be a pleasant surprise, but it is not the end of the world if it is yet another forgettable film, I will always come back to original classic.
Outland (1981) - DVD Again, I already own this on a region 1 copy, but the picture quality is not all that impressive, in fact it is at times very poor and such a neat sci-fi/thriller deserves much better treatment, or so I think. Found a used region 2 version from 1998 and hopefully that one might do the film more justice.
Cruising (1980) - DVD Not sure what to expect, beside that this one have Al Pacino starring as a undercover cop, trying to blend into the gay scene in search of a serial killer. Impulse buy, but with Bill Friedkin and Pacino in the lead, I do hope it might be one of the better impulse purchases.
Dark Star (1974) - DVD Impulse buy, but again I was sold when I saw John Carpenter and a very promising artwork along with some interesting quotes about the film. Looks to be like some kind of a sci-fi/adventure parody/comedy, could be a good one, I hope.
Battlestar Galactica (1978) - DVD Not sure if this is a TV-show or an movie but the region 2 DVD version I picked up seems to sell it as a stand alone film, but anyway I decided to give it a go on the account of the cool looking artwork and that it features familiar TV faces such as Lorne Greene and Dirk Benedict in the leading roles.
Bruce Dickinson: An Autobiography - What Does This Button Do? (2017) - Paperback While I do have upgrade slightly on my heavy metal and Iron Maiden collection, I still havent heard that much of their music, but I have always enjoyed reading a good music biography and this looks like it could be a great one.
Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run (2016) - Hardcover Again, I do own a few of his albums but never really been a "die hard" fan, still as I mentioned above, always in the search for a good read, specially with music involved.
Tre Grep Og Sannheten: Norsk Punk 1977-1980 (2017) - Paperback An interesting document on the arrival of the Punk movement in norway.
The Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops (1983) - CD I have always wanted to check up this band, and thought about starting with their 1989 album Hats, but since the record store did not have it, I went with the first album instead and from what I have heard, it is supposed to be just as good as their second one.

Black Mask (1996) - DVDJet Li movie, never seen but looks like it has some potential. This is one real fun comic-book Jet Li film, although it seems to cop a real beat down by viewers. It’s silly and choppy, but the action set-pieces are insane. Did you pick up the subtitled, or English dub, as the latter is downright awful.

I have seen two of his films, as of lately. The One (2001) and Black Mask (1996). I really wanted to like em' both, as I remember seeing an incredible cool trailer back in summer of 2005 when it was on the scandinavian version of the now long gone Showtime movie channell, but never got around to watch it. The One I remember mostly because it seemed like its cool movie poster were following me, wherever I went but again, I never ended up seeing it, well that is until as of recently.
Sadly, I ended up with the english dubbed Black Mask version, and while as you said it, the action/fighting scenes were incredible, the dubbing/audio was as clumsy and annoying as it could be, and it did put a bit of a negative effect on my first time (and likely last) view of the film.
The One started up rather promising but with an obviously bigger budget and more towards an american audience, the fighting scenes often ended up looking very poor and I felt they tried to hard to make it look "cool", but as entertainment I guess it worked well, but again nothing I will bother with re-watching. Sadly, a lot of action movies around that time ended up ruining many films by including some terrible nu-metal soundtracks, and The One is surely one of the many victims which could have benefitted from having a better made movie score, instead of cheap and awful angsty teen "metal" stuffed into every other fighting sequence. But then again, I guess it could have been worse, as rap/hip-hop were also often used, a lot in many of Seagals films, even including the musicians themselves in his movies as side-kicks.

Just watched (yesterday) Jeepers Creepers 3. Outside of digging some of the details of his truck that this movie went into I was bored for periods. I also thought the "Creighton Duke" character/team were a miss. Also I don't get how the one character survives this - a prequel to the second- and is supposedly on the school bus that is attacked but never is seen in the second one or speaks up saying , " hey guys... I know something about this"

Did a little "impulse" buy last week, with a "3 films for the price of one" deal online and ended up with:
Shattered (1991) - DVD A psychological thriller directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Tom Berenger and Bob Hoskins. Have been lying around on my watchlist for a couple of years now, but glad I finally have got it in my collection. Looks like a promising late night crime-thriller.
Vi hade i alla fall tur med vädret (1980) - DVD Swedish cult-classic which I have not seen for many, many years but I have always wanted to own a copy of it, sadly the former DVD release have been out of print for almost a decade (or more) but last year it was re-released and I just had to buy it. As I remembered it, the film/plot is not that far off Vacation (1983) in which a strict family dad wants to bring his "perfect" family together on a vacation and travel towards most of sweden, but it ends up with one disaster after another. Hopefully it might live up to my fond memories of it. I do believe a sequel were made almost 20 years later, but that I have not seen before.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988) - DVD Already own 2 DVD copies of this cult movie from earlier, however to my annoyance neither one comes with english subtitles, in fact the 2001 MGM version have subtitles but it is only in spanish and french while the 2008 (I think Optimum or something like that) have none included, so I was very happy when I found out that the swedish movie company Njuta Films had released it back in 2010 featuring bonus material along with swedish, danish, finish and norwegian subtitles and I now own three of the same film, but it is a good one so I think it is worth it.

I find the English dub to really destroy the mood of Black Mask. The One was quite average, although most of his American made films fall into the same pattern. Great action set-pieces, but so-so story. I do like him as the villain in Lethal Weapon 4, but as for starting vehicles - Kiss of the Dragon was the best of the lot for me from that time span. His homegrown films did it better, even the ones influenced by American films; like the “Die Hard” rip Meltdown.

The One did have a certain Highlander vibe going on but I just thought it went from a potentially good movie early on, to end up as a very mediocre one but it was quite fun to revisit a time when Jason Statham still had his hair left.
While Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 are two films which I rarely bother with (do not hate them but the forced comedy, specially with Joe Pesci and even worse, Chris Rock) really got on my nerves at times and for me the first two are great but after that the franchise lost a lot of its edgier action packed magic and charm and became almost like a poor parody of the buddy cop genre, along with Beverly Hills Cop 2 and 3 which also were disapppointing and lacking most of what I loved about the first one in the series as well. Anyway, I do agree that Jet Li was surely one of the few "highlights" in Lethal Weapon 4, but the awful direction towards family comedy and the nightmarish ending of it all was just too much to bare for my part.
I notice I have rated Kiss of the Dragon with a 6/10, which means as of now the films I have seen with Jet Li, that one is rated highest of them all (well, if one ignore the first two Expendables movies which I rated both a 7/10), which are not all that many to be said.

What Dreams May Come (1998) - Blu-ray Never seen this Robin Williams flick, but have always been wanting to. Found a dirt cheap Blu-ray copy lying around, brand new and all, could not let it pass me.
Star Trek: Beyond (2016) - DVD Never been much of a fan of the Star Trek universe/franchise, however I did enjoy seeing some of the movies from the late 70s and up till around mid 80s, but have not continued my journey with the rest of the films and might do something about it. However, I was surpised at how much I liked the 2009 film, and found a brand new and again, dirt cheap DVD copy of the last one, and if it is anything like the other one, I might have me some fun.
The Homesman (2014) - DVD I have liked a few of the many western themed films which Tommy Lee Jones have done or acted in for the past few years, this however I have never seen but decided to pick it up and give it a go.
Lærkevej: Til døden os skiller (2011) - DVD Danish comedy or something, complete impulse buy, not much else.
Min Søsters Børn: Vælter Nordjylland (2011) - Blu-ray Another danish comedy impulse buy. Have seen two of the other films in this seemingly neverending franchise, but I expect very little out of it.
Oasis: Supersonic (2016) - Blu-ray Never been much of a fan of them, but their music and legacy surely brings back some great childhood memories of the "cool britain" days of the mid 90s when seemed to England rule the world for a short period of time with football, movies and music and Oasis were huge.
Air Force One (1997) - Blu-ray One of the last great and classic action films of the 90s, and surely the last great Harrison Ford film. I already have a DVD copy of it, but for such a generous price, I just had to get it on Blu-ray as well.
Point Break (1991) - DVD I already have two other copies lying around on DVD, incredible enough I still have not seen it. Yeah, I know, I should really be doing something about that, and soon. However, I picked it up because I thought this DVD had a much better looking artwork, than the terrible and cheap looking ones I have from earlier.
Kiki's Delivery Service (1989) - DVD One of very few Studio Ghibli release I really enjoy. Not saying their films are bad, but they usually are beautiful to look at but the main characters/story rarely sits well with me. This one however worked on all acounts and I have another copy of it, but that is full of scratches and just in case I got this as a back up, if anything should go wrong.
American Horror Story: Asylum - DVD The complete second season, which tells me very little as I have never seen an episode of it before, hopefully I might enjoy it even if I have not.
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) - DVD Impulse buy, mostly because of the impressive cast and that I feel I should be updating my classic movie collection a little more often. Hopefully this is a good one.
Bugsy Malone (1976) - DVD From the look of it, a musical with teenagers in the roles of famous mobster figures, starring Jodie Foster. Never seen, but again, another impulse purchase.
Bad Girls (1994) - DVD Never seen the whole film, but I remember it to be like a female lead western version of Young Guns, or similar with two of my favorite 90s classy babes in Andie McDowell and Madeleine Stowe.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs & Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009-2013) - DVD I did not like the first film that much, very annoying lead characters and could not understand the praise it seemed to get. But I just picked up this double feature for the price of almost nothing, just to see if the second might be a little more of a "improvement" on the first one.
Sønner av Norge (2011) - DVD Or in english, Sons of Norway. I have only seen a little bit of it, I think Johnny Rotten has a smaller cameo part in it, and it revolves around the punk rock explosion coming to norway. A young teenager and his band are trying to impress and break the rules by being rebelious, but it is not that easy when you own dad wants to join in on the fun.
I Never Sang For My Father (1970) - DVD Gene Hackman movie, which I only got because of, well the promising cast.
Bad Boys (1983) - DVD Already got it on DVD from earlier, but again that version have terrible artwork, and I hate that when it comes to movies I like.
Carrie (1952) - DVD Another impulse buy, looks like a drama/romance starring Laurence Olivier.
The Little Mermaid (1989) - DVD Once more, I own the exact same copy from earlier but I remember it was one of those Disney releases which only was out for a short period, then withdrawn and you did not know when or if it would arrive anytime soon again. My older version have some scratches on them and I picked up this brand new looking one for the price of nothing, just in case.
The LEGO Movie (2014) - DVD I truly loathed the LEGO Batman Movie (2017) when I saw it last year, it was one of the worst and most annoying films I had seen in years, but I will try and give this one a chance. But not the end of the world if it sucks, as it was ridiculously cheap.
Paddington 2 (2017) - DVD Found it lying around and while the first one was good, I did not think it was that great or memorable as so many critics and fans tried to paint it. A feel-good movie, but one that I only will watch once, and I guess the same may go with the sequel as well.
Did also pick up two CDs today as well:
The Stranglers - Feline (1983) - CD The The - Infected (1986) - CD

Bad Boys (1983) - DVDAlready got it on DVD from earlier, but again that version have terrible artwork, and I hate that when it comes to movies I like. Hey stefancrosscoe. Is your Bad Boys DVD the complete 120 minute version? I hope it is.

Sadly, I fell into the same trap as I did once before, as it seems like I got the exact same DVD version, the 104 minute long cut and the only difference is that the DVD artwork was much cooler looking than my old one. Still, it is whats inside which counts, and once more I ended up on the losing side. I guess I have to be ordering it online, to avoid doing the same mistake three times in a row, as I am curious of how much different the uncut version is and how it might affect the film.

Ended up purchasing a few more impulse titles today:
Made in America (1993) - VHS Its been a while since the last time I picked up a VHS movie, but there is just something about it which makes me all nostalgic and everything. Never seen the actualy film, but for the price of absolutely "nothing", this former rental video copy looked almost brand new and going only by the trailer, it kind of looks like a decent early 90s comedy starring Whoppi Goldberg and Ted Danson.
A Kiss Before Dying (1991) - DVD Looks like it might be a remake or something but I only got it because of Sean Young and that I have always had a soft spot for these late 80s/early 90s hot and steamy erotic late night thrillers. Judging by the trailer, when the sleazy saxophone arrives in after a few seconds, hopefully it might be one of the better or more enjoyable of that genre.
Poolhall Junkies (2002) - DVD Remember this title from a few years back, lying in the dirt cheap bin at one of the few movie stores left in town. Always planned on picking it up but never got there, so today I found it lying around even cheaper and thought I might try it this time.
Animals United (2010) - DVD Some CGI animated (probably yet another forgettable and poorly so) family movie, which I have never seen or heard of before, which I guess is rarely a good sign of things to come.
The Guardian (2006) - DVD Another title I have often seen lying around but never got around to because of how much I dislike Ashton Kutcher, but I am willing to give it a chance.
Scenes of the Crime (2001) - DVD Some thriller/mafia crime movie with Jeff Bridges in the main part, or so it looks like by the artwork/cover.
Route 666 (2001) - DVD Lou Diamond Phillips and Lori Petty stars in this action or thriller film, I guess probably another b-movie release of his.
Dinner With Friends (2001) - DVD Romantic drama or something not that far off, comes with a pretty solid cast with Andie McDowall, Toni Collette, Dennis Quaid and Greg Kinnear.
Bark! (2002) - DVD Lisa Kudrow comedy, very much an impulse buy if there ever was one but she have surprised me from time to time with some decent to actually very good performances.
Lone Hero (2002) - DVD Another cheaply priced but brand new DVD copy of a Lou Diamond Phillips film I have never heard of before, which also stars Robert Forster and Sean Patrick Flanery.
Black Point (2002) - DVD David Caruso thriller, which I think I have seen before but not sure when or what I thought of it. Might as well give it another go.
